Hi all

Post by rabbie77 »

Finally got around to posting after signing up some time ago. Avid reader/collector of mostly football and war related titles. Good collection of Roy of the Rovers, Football Picture Story Monthly, Hot Shot, Striker, Scoop, Shoot etc, as well as Commando, Battle Picture Monthly, Warlord, Victor etc.

Haven't yet managed to see any copies of the mid 90s Hurricanes comic, but some memories of the animation.

Also a big superhero fan (of films and animation both DC and Marvel), but haven't ever collected the comics as seriously as the sport and war. Looking forward to getting into discussions about some of these titles and others..

I get the impression you are based in Scotland but, if you live down south, you may be interested to know that last Tuesday at Kempton Park antiques fair a seller had three crates filled with Shoot! and Goal magazines. I have nearly every issue of Goal and the Shoots were from the early 80s which is after my cut off point. The next antique fair at Kempton is next Tuesday 12th November.

I am indeed based in Scotland :) (in Edinburgh), but always interesting to hear about job lots of Shoot etc, good to see that they are still out there. Picked up a fair stash of Roy of the Rovers from one of the Oxfam shops recently which made a good dent in the 80s section for that.

I picked up a bundle of Roy of the Rovers at Kempton Park a few weeks ago. I'll list them on here tomorrow. I don't really collect ROTR but as they were cheap I bought them. If there are any you need you can have them for a small sum. Most in very nice condition.

I have a reasonable number of issues of SHOOT, all in mint condition, as far as I can see. I bought them all on the week they came out. The run is from September 9th 1978 to May 3rd 1980, at which point there was a five-week strike. My run continues from June 28th 1980 to July 11th 1981 and from July 25th 1981 to August 8th 1981. There are 144 issues in total. The only missing issue is the one for July 18th 1981. Presumably I just didn't buy that week's issue, or the various local newsagents had sold out by the time I got there. Offers invited.

I've no idea. Let me know how many you want and I'll suggest an amount. It won't be much.
