There is a TPTV Encore site where you can catch up on things shown on TPTV. They usually hold most TV and films they show on there for a week after their transmission.

It's a great site to be on; also have some items always on there to watch including a lot of material made by ITV franchise Southern Television, including episodes of "Runaround", "Hogg's Back" and some "Freewheelers".

I too love Mala from "Space Patrol". Shame there's not more female characters in the series!

I hope they'd also find in the garage lost episodes of such shows as "Thank Your Lucky Stars", "Ready Steady Go", "Top Of The Pops" (in spite of one of their hosts), plus 2Mystery and Suspense" and "GS5" ("Ghost Squad" spin-off) amongst many others.

I did try but couldn't get any stuff from their catalogue on TV so may have to just do the online thing.
Either way,I continue to watch it when wife allows and absolutely love this channel.

Should have said you need a connected TV to access the back catalogue.

I'm enjoying Space Patrol much more now than I did 60 years ago. Such inventive plots and characterisation.

I've only ever had freeview/terrestrial which my mate calls council tv. He's in Spain now watching Millwall friendlies, how devoted can you get? Are people who have Sky TV not able to revert to freeview?

I never knew that RSG! was once repeated on TPTV. I guess this must have been when TPTV was only available on HD TV of which I did not have, nor would afford such a set. I do remember being told about TPTV back then, but said I couldn't get it, so had to make do with DVDs. It wasn't until 2017, when I got given an HD set after I moved into my supported accommodation in Leigh (still there today, touch wood, although I'm in a different, more spacious flat in the same building), what I finally say TPTV, shortly before they became available for all digital TV. I remember watching the 1965 film "Invasion" on my first TPTV day (I last saw this great film on Channel 4 during the late 1980s).

However, I did see a late 1964 edition at a TPTV event in Stockport in 2021, really enjoyed it. Artists on included Leigh's own Georgie Fame, Rufus Thomas doing 2 numbers including "Walkin' The Dog" (which had been a hit earlier covered by Liverpool group The Dennisons - which drummer was future Emmerdale actor Clive Hornby; ironically Frazer Hines who played his brother on the show was co-hosting), plus Kenny Lynch doing future Northern Soul stomper "My Own Two Feet", and ex-Searcher Tony Jackson doing the follow up to his only minor hit, a cover of "You Beat Me To The Punch": just as well Keith Fordyce interviewed him and not co-host Cathy McGowan, as she might have punched Jackson after he insulted her about her nose on his previous appearance! No wonder boozy Jackson got nicknamed "Black Jake" within the music industry.

At that TPTV show, it was hosted by Frazer Hines and Jenny Hanley, with gusts including Anita Harris and Freddie "Parrott Face" Davies, all of whom I bought autographs from and had a chat with. I talked with Hines about Clive Hornby (whom I also met once) and Wendy Padbury among other things.

Ironic, as Wendy's ex Melvyn Hayes was also a guest, but not doing autographs as was Amanda Barrie. I asked Hayes a question about forgotten children's program "Potter's Picture Palace" which was shown on TPTV on a highlights slot of his interview. His anecdote made people laugh.
Had a great time.

I also got myself another mention on "The Footage Detectives" a few weeks back, when I remember Macfisheries and their spin off Mac Market supermarkets. I have submitted another E Mail to them recently, with information on Blackpool's ABC theatre, Hope and Keen and the "Smash" comic, after a viewer asked for information on this title, which I duly supplied. Will see what happens there.

Still make good use of TPTV Encore via online, includes all interviews from their events on the site. Caught up with last Saturday's Space Patrol, still need to view last Saturday's Dixon Of Dock Green and Budgie before tonight, plus some of their recent obscure films shown on late night, including the "Man In Black" with Sid James.

A film to watch out for on TPTV is Penny And The Pownall Case. It's based around a comic strip, obviously inspired by Jane and drawn by George Davies https://www.lambiek.net/artists/d/davies_george.htm It's about the glamorous model for a comic strip who helps the police.

Not a great film, but worth watching for the comic strip connection, the glimpses of 1948 life, and early appearances by to-be-famous actors. Also, it's a short b-feature, so doesn't take long to watch.

The Remo Four and The Cockneys are two I've seen recently. Also Gary Lewis and the Playboys (son of Jerry Lewis). Ready Steady Go was repeated on Channel 4 not TPTV.

Think I watched this channel earlier and they showed a classic Hancock Half Hour with Kenneth Williams.

Agree. I'd never heard of Mr. Winkle Goes to War before but have recently watched it three times on Talking Pictures TV. It stars Edward G. Robinson in a light hearted role. A wonderful film.

Am watching this movie right now on TP.Brilliant !!

The Pickwick Papers has recently become one of my favourite films, have watched it three times on TPTV. Harry Fowler is superb.

Every time I write something like this it occurs to me my mind is still set in the time when you could only watch TV live. I must get used to acknowledging the existence of freeview recorders and catch up tv.

I thought someone on this site said that RSG did get shown on TPTV a long time ago before I could watch it. I must have read wrong/misunderstood.

I do remember RSG being shown on Channel 4 both in 1985 and 1993, but the thing that spoiled both of these were that Dave Clark, who owned these films, butchered them in the name of his vanity. So thus, we didn't surviving full editions as they were originally transmitted, but we got lots of DC5 clips and performances edited in, including many bits from the DC5's "Hold On It's The Dave Clark Five" TV special for ITV (that said special did later get shown in full on C5 in 1993. TPTV should try to get rights to show that again as it was good fun).

I can understand if on some editions only a performance here or there has survived so cobbling a few together makes sense, but I and many other viewers would prefer to see these old TV shows as they were transmitted.

Dave Clark does deserve commending for rescuing many of these RSG, as when it's maker Rediffusion Television lost its ITV franchise, it scandalously junked most of its TV archive, but don't like it when repeats years later become vanity shows.
