Lion numbering

I'm trying to figure out when Lion dropped issue numbers from the cover. The April 18th 1959 Lion is numbered as #374 on the cover, but by 23rd May 1959, five weeks later, the cover only displays a date. So the change clearly took place on or between those issues. Is anyone able to narrow it down further?

According to Steve Holland's book Lion, King Of Picture Story Papers, it was numbered to 378 (16/05/59)

Grand Comics Database also gives 378.
