STORY 16:
ISSUES 38-45 (1977)
"Werewolf"

In middle Europe on a hunting vacation,Steve Austin and his friend Bill Molloy are attacked by a wolf.
Steve carries his injured companion to a lonely castle where they find to their horror that the owner is the man that in animal form raided their camp.
A rather fantastical tale that breaks the mould set by previous entries in this series yet makes sense as at this point the television series had introduced killer robots, aliens and Bigfoot.

STORY 17
ISSUES 46-52 (1977)
"AUTOMATAN"

Gunter Ull,master of robotics,is determined to take the brain pattern of the OSO boss (Oscar Goldman) and transfer it to an android under his control.
This story reflects both bionic tv series by introducing the "Look-in" fembots idea and indeed the majority of automatans' featured are indeed female.
The story is wonderful as always with Allan,Asburys' art is phenomenal.
In the same issues that this strip runs, it has to be noted that John M Burns art for "The Bionic Woman" strip is beyond human comprehension in it's brilliance.

STORY 18
ISSUES 1-9 (1978)
"THE GREAT MANDINI"

The great exploits of an amazing illusionist, the man who calls himself "the great mandini".
An odd but absolutely brilliant tale with top notch cliffhangers at the end of every strip.
After many impossible feats involving robbery (despite seemingly not interested in money as seen when he returns stolen cash to Steve) and National Security breaches, Steve challenges Mandini to a locked casket over Niagra Falls challenge.
Ever since I began re-reading this strip I was on the look-out for my favourite cliffhanger of all time in this comic strip that I loved and remembered as a child, the Niagra Falls incident...
I didn't know from what story it came from,so reading these issues tonight has answered my personal question.
BTW:I stated in a previous post that I got "Look-In" for the strips and didn't really like the mag as a whole.
This is completely true, however, these 9 issues are actually really excellent as a whole.
First six have more Star Wars than Star Wars Weekly had.
Then Logans' Run and Man From Atlantis articles.
A very good run of the mag.
