Battlestar Galactica

Post by jim244 »

This strip was based upon the first movie (European compilation of episodes from the American Series).
The television series would air just before the strip ended,so a bit of an oddity in Look -In history.
Beautifully drawn by Martin Asbury,in 4 13 part stories.
At the time Look-In were running this strip;Marvel had their "Battlestar Galactica" mag out, which (at least in writers) was vastly superior.
This however was not readily available in the UK,although did have a limited import release and I managed to get a couple at the time.
I have all now.
More importantly:The UK issued "Star Heroes" which was a UK Marvel digest pocket book monthly that initially featured Battlestar Galactica and the Micronauts.
So:In 1979,Battlestar Galactica was a strip running in 2 UK comics at the same time,"Star Heroes" and "Look-In".
Colour A4 Martin Asbury at Look - in thrashed the black and white pocket art digest "Star Heroes".
But "Star Heroes" had far better stories...
Anyhow,I got them both.
So,the Look -In Strips.........

All Stories Originally Untitled:Made Up Story Titles.

1: STORY 1 (43 1979 - 3 1980)

The Imperial leader places a spy.

2: STORY 2 (4 -16 1980)

Apollo finds home.

3: STORY 3 (17 - 29 1980)

Parahelial fever.

4: STORY 4 (30 -42 1980)

Imprisoned.

Sadly story 4 was in black and white, the other 3 being p
resented in glorious colour.
Really fantastic artwork and worth checking out this series for that alone.

The only other UK comic adaptations of Battlestar Galactica in comic form were in the 2 annuals published by Grandreams.
