COMICS Published In The Same Week.

Post by steelclaw »

Looking through my comics I wanted to see how many I have with the same date, I chose March/April 1973 my birthday and when I was buying the most comics.

I wanted to try and recreate how one of the Newsagents used to display their comics by the till, But not just comics I would like to get the Music papers plus all the pop papers at the time, Music Star, Fan, Here And Now etc.

Looking in the 'Family Tree' Section I saw the amount I could have,
Beezer,Topper,Dandy,Beano,Cor,Hornet,Shiver & Shake,Tiger,Jack & Jill,Playhour,Diana,Romeo,Bunty,Mandy,Comando,Debbie,Sandie,Tammy,Mirabelle.Valentine,Jackie,Princess Tina,Look-In + I'm sure thier's loads of others I've missed.

Can anyone else do any better (most of you probably) put your scans up showing your comic glut from your special comic date.

I notice Peter has a 'Shiver & Shake' comic on his block dated 7th April 1973.

9 Comics from March 31st 1973.

These are from April 7th 1973 only 10 which is the most I have OK Goal/Shoot arn't comics as such but still are 7th April.

Much more quirky British creativity in these covers, Steel: thanks for showing these, it brings it all back: so many covers of comics have generic layout and graphics today, they are instantly forgettable and bland, though there are notable exceptions.

Back then, it was agonizing choosing an extra comic if you only had enough spare cash for one more comic [which was often the case].

He means Faaaaaaaaaaantastic, clearly.

I'll have to try this myself, though a lot of my collection is in bound volumes. Hmm...

when someone writes f and nothing else it can only mean he has been taken out by an assassin. I mean he hasn't come back on has he? Someone is hunting down British comic collectors - i'm barricading my front door with ten years worth of Whizzer & Chips. I'm Treat Williams in "Things To do in Denver When You're Dead."

LOL! Or rather my poor work internet was assassinated.

I was in the middle of posting when the work internet went down and I could not get back in.

Then I forgot all about it.

I was going to say that it reminded me of the days I would go into Smiths on a Saturday morning and look at the latest selection of comics to see if any tempted me to buy (apart from my weekly regulars). :)

Ah those were the days.
