Could anyone tell me whether the Buster comic font was carefully done by hand or was it an actual font? If so, what font was it?

Do you mean for the logo or the lettering inside?

I think Jack Oliver said that he drew the final logo used. The lettering... well it depends on the artist. Some artists prefer to do the lettering themselves. The best way to check is to analyse a strip letter by letter. If say for example, 5 ds look different, then the artist probably lettered the page themselves. If they're identical, then it was probably done on a computer or something...

You volunteering for this painstaking task then Diz?

Incidentally, JEO did create the balloon logo, he commented in my guestbook about the use of it on the site......to this day his lawyers haven't tracked me down, so I assume he's still ok with it!

That or my many different identities and constant housemoves have kept me safe!!!

All of the various Buster logos were done by hand. Sadly, a skill hardly used now when designing comic logos.
