60) Jacky Daw with Maw and Paw (124) The Beano's (1976-1978) answer to Reg Parlett's Valiant strip 'The Crows'. As with 'Pansy Potter - the Strongman's daughter' (still to come in the Top 100) the titles rhyme gives away its Scottish editorial origins. Artwork David Gudgeon.

KeV F made reference to the non-rhyming of Pansy Potter and daughter in one of his Bash Street adventures last year - don't think it had occurred to me before that!

57) Jack Flash (140) Jack Flash the Flying Boy with wings on his heels came to Earth from the planet Mercury and thanks to his kindly acts of derring-do was the Beano's favourite alien in 7 series spanning nearly a decade (1949-1958).
In the 1970's the girl's paper Mandy would give us Jackie Flash, a female take on the character while in 1980 Jack himself would be revamped for a more modern age in the new comic Nutty.
Artists chronologically on the original Dudley Watkins, Fred Sturrock, Paddy Brennan and Andy Hutton.

If i remember rightly Tim Traveller, along with Vic Volcano and Crazy for Daisy, where chosen in a "pop idol" (long before the show hit our screens!) style event where one-off strips would be run each week and readers asked to vote for the one they wanted to continue. Personally i thought the "space hotel" one was best.
