Cheers! - actually my first lot of Beezer broadsheets (already had a few Topper and Buzz) - what a great read they are.

Look in good order too. I loved those broadsheet Toppers & Beezers as a kid. Bought loads at my local school summer fate.

Just had delivery of two Dandy summer specials from 1969 & 1970 in VG+ & FN- condition. And wait for it, the rare Scream Spinechillers Holiday Special 1989 in VG condition, although it does have a little bit of damage to the rear cover, a one inch teardrop tear close to the middle of the spine is missing. With that said, it's still a nice rare find but will continue my search for a better example.

This brings my Buster comic total to 575 comics dated between 1960 - 1981

I reckon I have more Busters now than when I originally collected them back in 2000 - 2012 (I regretfully sold the lot in 2012).

Back then I could store the lot in the bottom of a bookcase, now that has filled up and I'm using some wardrobe space upstairs as well - I had to recycle some clothes to accomodate them!

Back then I could store the lot in the bottom of a bookcase, now that has filled up and I'm using some wardrobe space upstairs as well - I had to recycle some clothes to accommodate them!

Funny you should mention how you store your Busters Chalky. That's a minefield in itself I find. The fundamental question is. How to store them safely? Besides bagging & boarding them , I also buy those large stackable plastic tubs, but not the ones with rounded/ tapered sides. They are totally impractical, but the heavy-duty tubs that are square and strong enough to stack. Cost around £15 each in my local Range store.

The lighter cheaper tubs are okay as standalone storage if you only have a small collection, but stack one on top of another with a similar weight and they start to deform and warp. I also use those gel sachets you often find in packaging to stop moisture. It's a trick used by comic artists when they store & archive their pages.

Chalky, I know what you mean but be prepared for things to get far worse!!!
I once had comics in a bookcase,then on shelves,then (at wifes' insistence) in boxes.
The plastic boxes were under the bed.Then one of our wardrobes was needed.Then the hall cupboard.Then....I'm not kidding...the kitchen,lounge under tables etc etc....ITS' MADNESS !!!

I am at the point where I am thinking of renting a private large garage (but bigger than normal garage) space just for storage.
I'm not joking.

I haven't even bought any this year,well literally a very few as been skint due to new central heating,new fridge/freezer/new oven etc etc
So,to be totally honest,I don't have the money yet to rent a space for storage.
But it is next on my list.
I must emphasise that we do live in a small one bedroom flat,I think,as my wife says,sell and get a new mortgage and buy a house might solve things !!!!!

I use something inbetween but you are right completely and excellent advice.

So......Bit skint at moment to fill in gaps with ongoing collections,saw an excellent free gift of plastic planes from The Hotspur comic on Ebay,posted about it here and my good friend (well we have emailed and he's a good guy) Adam Eterno also purchased this.
So....After getting the free gift I became fascinated by the history of The Hotspur Comic,got a couple of bargains,one from the first volume (No:87) and one from the second volume (1066).So one from 1935,one from 1980.I think I may have to collect these as enjoyed both equally.

I still have a small bit of wriggle room for more comics but it will involve a declutter of books I am never going to read again/don't want.

We plan to move house in about 7 years and my hope is to get some built-in bookcases disguised as wardrobes to keep dust and light out to store my comics.

All my comics are in individual comic bags and many are boarded - the ones I bought from 30th Century Comics. I live in Ireland and it's cost prohibitive to buy the boards on their own from overseas.

I would never consider storing comics without a comic bag, moving them without bags risks staining, creasing, nicks etc. The one thing I always do though is remove any tape that may be on the bags (to keep them sealed) as on one occasion the sticky side of the tape touched the cover of one of my comics and took the ink off with it...

I have a number of free gifts that came with the Buster originally incl the free drink from the May 30th 1981 (21st Birthday issue) which I store in one of those re-sealable plastic pouches you get in the pharmacy. I put a desiccant gel sachet inside the pouch to keep it dry.
