Scherzo

Post by Gluben »

Does anyone have any more information on who "Scherzo" was?

https://www.lambiek.net/artists/s/scherzo.htm

He was a gag cartoonist in the 1950s, 1960s and early 1970s; from then, he disappears completely and I've no idea of his real name!

I'm still searching for this guy, as he's a complete mystery!

My closest guess was a cartoonist called Ken Evans, who seems to (mostly) fit the profile, but I'm not certain:

Fascinating mystery. As we have a self portrait do we have any photographs of Ken Evans to compare this cartoon with?

I did find some photos of Ken Evans in the British Newspaper archive but I can't link to them here. He also painted a self-portrait:

I managed to find his son and unfortunately, he's not the "Scherzo" I'm looking for. The quest continues...

So not Ken then.
Well, I congratulate you on your tenacious determination.

A detective agency may be an answer; there is one local to me that I could direct you to if you are interested but I have no idea of the cost.

I may as well look into it, although I suspect the cost would be prohibitive! Feel free to DM me.

Ah well, if you could share more examples, that would be lovely. I think the earliest I've found from him was 1956 in the TV Times, and the latest was 1974 or so. He seems to disappear completely after that.
