The current Dr Who magazine has a wonderful free gift, a revised new edition of the Target book "Wheel in Space".
This is one of the most expensive ones to find on Ebay etc as had a limited run due to a fire destroying many copies.
If you have any interest in the Target collection then this is a very cheap ( I think it's £11 for the mag) way to get this very hard to find book.
New cover and typing mistakes corrected but it will fill the hole in any fans Target collection.

Really good point. When Marvel ran this magazine the cost was the same whether the issue included free CD or postcards or whatever; however since Panini took over, each issue changes price depending on whether it contains a " free gift" or not.
So, yes, it's not really free at all !!

I guess if you subscribe then you pay the agreed annual fee and therefore it's a free gift to subscribers!
BTW: I don't subscribe.
EITHER WAY: This book is one of the rarest in the Target Dr Who series and is edited by Steve Cole who corrects so many mistakes in the original edition.
I got it today from Smiths and I only rarely get the magazine these days as wasn't my sort of thing due to recent previous editors, however Jason Quinn seems to have shaken it up a bit and it's looking better.
Funny really as I still remember getting issue 1 when it was Dr Who Weekly back in 79 lol.

I looked at the magazine cover online. The cover doesn't say the novel is free.

Very true David.
However, it is common business practice not to rise the cost of an item when you include an additional item to highlight the original.
For example: I am a Chef and Catering Manager. I work from an annual GP and sometimes I give the customer more but balance it annually.
Magazines should have a consistent price and it's terrible business to not do so.

I recently got (Xmas present!) The Essential Terrance Dicks Vol 1 and this includes the same novel but unedited (as the Dr Who Mag version was edited to correct faults in the original edition).
