I was watching Star Trek TNG last week and a dig found some 19th century relics, Data picked up a Colt Revolver and referred to it as an 1873 Colt Double Action Revolver. I immediately shouted at the TV "rubbish it's a Colt single action". How could they not know?
Lol my best friend calls water "Council pop" !!!!
I've seen the episode you refer to and I just took their word for it, they should have had you as an adviser and next time I see this episode I will know that Datas' 19th Century knowledge is flawed.

I don't know about other members but when I watch a film or TV episode I always go onto imdb to check the trivia and goofs. Westerns notoriously have guns that were not in production at the time the film was set. My favourite film The Good the Bad and the Ugly is set during the Civil War (1861 - 1865) but at least Sergio Leone (a stickler for authenticity) made sure they used 1861 Colt Navy Models , although the protagonists used conversion models which didn't appear until 3 od 4 years after the war ended.

Let me know if I'm becoming too geekified. :-)

No, it is all great education Sir !!!
I would also rate that movie in my top twenty of all time and the trilogy itself is absolutely brilliant.
What are your top 10 Westerns?
Personally my favourite Western is "High Noon" with Gary Cooper.

Red River, Rio Bravo, The Searchers, Once Upon a Time in the West, the Dollars Trilogy, The Far Country, Adios Sabata, My Name is Nobody. But I love all the James Stewart/Anthony Mann films and any starring Audie Murphy or Randolph Scott. Big fan of Open Range as well for a later western .

Forgot to mention The Westerner with Gary Cooper and Walter Brennan. Some great humour in it.

Great choices Sir, I love all of them and especially am a huge fan of "Once Upon", another classic from the chap that brought us the Dollars films.
Never seen "Open Range".

I've watched Open Range several times, unusual for me given its not vintage, but the dialogue is just how you imagine they spoke in late 1800s. Some great scenes and a superb final shootout. Reading today's Metro I see there is a stage production of High Noon in London until March 6th. 4 star review.

Interesting about the High Noon stage production. Would love to see that.
Been watching the "Roy Rogers Show" on Talking Pictures.
Never seen this before but am aware of Roy Rogers.
I think my Dad watched this show when he was a kid.
Anyway, it's brilliant and I'm really pleased to finally see it.
I looked it up and apparently Dale was his real wife and Trigger was his real horse and even the dog was his dog !!!!

The High Noon stage review wasn't so good in the London Standard saying the F word was used a lot.

I think Trigger was stuffed and is available to view maybe in a Roy Rogers museum. I'm enjoying the show and recording it onto USB stick. They seem to be airing odd episodes though, going from S2 E1 last Saturday to S3 E1 this Saturday just gone.

I really don't like the idea of the F word being used in a version of "High Noon", it seems ....wrong.
Odd about the channel missing episodes out as I looked it up and all 100 exist.
I would have thought that they could screen the show free as it's early 1950s so would presume it's now in the public domain.
Unless certain episodes were re- copywrited (or whatever the proper description/term is) ??
Or could it be that some episodes aren't of suitable broadcast quality??
It's also possible that the channel are uncertain whether this show will be a hit with viewers so are starting off with a sort of best-of greatest hits thing and if deemed to be popular they will show the whole thing?
Just my thoughts.
