Shrewsbury International Cartoon Festival

Post by Steve Bright »

Okay, so this isn't strictly a comics thing, but there is a crossover feel to it, in that a number of comic artists will be involved, and there will be a heck of a lot of drawing going on.

Basically, the beautiful town of Shrewsbury will be invaded by all manner of cartoonists in a couple of weeks' time, intent on enjoying themselves to the max :grouphug: (most of us don't get out of the house for the other 51 weekends of the year). It's the fifth of these annual events, and very popular among locals and visitors alike. The sun has never failed to shine (kiss of death now), and there are loads of events and exhibitions planned throughout the weekend.

Along with many of my fellow pros, I'll be found in the town square (weather permitting), drawing gigantic cartoons. There will also be cartoon workshops and clinics for the public to participate in, and a plethora of caricaturists drawing all-comers...ABSOLUTELY FREEEEEEEE!

If you're not there, you'll regret it all year until the next one. :headbash:

Aw, I had a great time last year, but I'm away while it's on this time round. Have some extra fun on my behalf!

The chances of me getting there are close to nil, because although I'll be in England, it'll be in Somerset. Really sorry, cos I'd love to get to one of these things!

Roger and wilco, Laura. Sorry you can't make it this year.

Andy, that's what they built the M's 5, 6 and 54 for. A more scenic motorway trip you'd be hard pushed to find...ahem!

Luckily I live in Shrewsbury, so I'll be there. :)

Anyone who comes along you may like to visit our comic shop at 31 Wyle Cop. There's a huge selection of UK indy comics available there not available anywhere else!

all the best,

Shane

All right, where were you all? I'll need notes from everyone's mum. You missed a great weekend (although the promised sunshine never materialised - so sue me!), and the chance to purchase an exclusive Steve Bright fridge magnet for 50p.

Speaking of magnets, I met one. A fine young chap in his mid teens (and his dad), with whom I had a very enjoyable chat, discovering he was the erstwhile Magnet of this parish, at one time being accused of trolldom. Wrong!

I hope he's still looking in - pleasure to meet you, mate!
