"Scotland Waterstones" lol we have more than one Waterstones up here Peter honest :D - I had a look at it in one of the Glasgow branches and its very good you'll love it . all joking aside I'm amazed its not so well ditributed especially in England (larger population etc) no wonder sales can be poor - I live in a smallish town (about 25k people) about 12 miles outside Glasgow and our local (larger) newsagent /card shop has it as well as the Beano and Oor Wullie annuals (and the 1940s Our Wuillie repro, Classics and Broons classics annuals in plus someothers)

I searched all the shops around where I live and work, not found a copy. Wanted a quick flick before buying...But just ordered from Amazon now. Looking forward to it greatly.

Had a good look through, though. Some interesting characters there I don't think I'd seen much of before like Wild Boy of the Woods from circa 1940 (in one reproduced strip he's fighting Hitler)

Actually, on closer inspection it turned out to be a giant robot Hitler. Seemed to be full of fantastical weirdness this strip - and I like the artist's work: 'Toby' Baines, I think.

Unfortunately Amazon seem to have extended their shipping dates again. It's now expected to deliver in 8 to 10 days. (Obviously they don't have any in stock yet.)

It's possible this could change if they receive the books before then I suppose.

Lew

UPDATE: I've just received word that the book is on its way via Royal Mail. So Amazon DO have it in stock, despite their site claiming otherwise, and once again the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing over there.

My copy of The History of The Beano has just arrived from Amazon. An absolutely fantastic volume. A coffee table book that's bigger than my coffee table. :) Morris Heggie has done a superb job on the book.

I'll be reviewing it on my blog at a later date but at present I'd better get back to the drawing board to work on ********* ****** for an upcoming Beano. ;-)
