10 Weirdest Girls' Comic Stories
Re: 10 Weirdest Girls' Comic Stories
A short story in Tammy, has a blind girl and her devoted guide dog (who is the girl's lifeline) meet a gipsy-like woman. The girl wishes she could see, and the next day wakes up with her sight, however her dog is now blind. They find the gipsy-woman together, who tells them that the dogs love for her allowed the transition, but that she should now always look after her now blind dog, and show the love and devotion that the dog gave her. Poor dog
Re: 10 Weirdest Girls' Comic Stories
I do remember at least two stories in Misty about evil gnomes - one was called "Stone Cold Revenge" and featured in the weekly comic (illustrated by John Richardson) and the other was in either one of the annuals or a special but it was a text story (sorry to be vague, but I'll need to delve into my Misty collection in the wardrobe to confirm!!).
The story that you describe Valeera, sounds similar to a story I read in the Diana Annual 1982. The story is called "In An English Country Garden..." and is introduced by the ever-present Man in Black story teller. The story is about a family - mum, dad, small boy and baby sister - who move into a new house whose previous occupants have mysteriously disappeared. In the garden are three seemingly innocent looking gnomes (who of course, are anything but!). After a series of nasty 'accidents' - a near-drowning, a runaway pram, the cat getting run over, a near-miss involving a lawnmower blade(!) and a fire, the family resolve to leave. Unfortunately they are too late in reaching this decision and the gnomes 'come and get them' one night. The story concludes when a few months later a new family moves in and admire the realistic little statues of a family in the garden (guess who!). The final frame of the little family with eyes blazing red and evil expressions on their faces just says it all! The Diana annuals are actually really good for creepy and more unusual stories (very Misty-ish!) and well worth a look.

Re: 10 Weirdest Girls' Comic Stories
Oh, and as for weird stories in girl's comics an absolute classic example has to be "The Balloon Of Doom" from Bunty.
Am I write in thinking you mean weird as in wacky and 'out there'????!!!!

I think you're right. Would explain why my memory of it is more vague than it usually is with my Misty and Tammi stories. If it was out of Diana, I was reading my sister's annual, and probably only saw it once... what a memory I've got!The story that you describe Valeera, sounds similar to a story I read in the Diana Annual 1982. The story with the locusts was "The Swarm" (illustrated by John Richardson) and was in the first Misty annual (1979). There was also a text story about locusts in one of the early Misty comics of 1978.
