Now THAT'S a logo! It's classic but fresh, bold, fun and energetic. Exactly what the Dandy is about

Eeeeenteresting. Facebook (where you're supposed to be 13 minimum to join up)
Actually you're supposed to be 13 or over to join up to anything on the internet, so somebody arbitrarily decided back in 2002 or so. That worked out well for them didn't it?

You're right, it tends to be 13 on Internet message boards and online games too, not just Facebook and Twitter.

On Five Live's Weekend Breakfast this morning they had a bit about the Birmingham Comic Convention and interviewed the organiser. I took the liberty of sending a text mentioning the Dandy relaunch which they read out. The female presenter, Rachel Burdon, said when she visited her Mum she loved going through her old annuals. She said the Numbskulls in the Beezer was her favourite strip. Its on bbc iplayer but the comic bit didn't appear until 8.50 - ten minutes before the finish.

Excellent work Colonel Zodiac. You're patrolling your sector well. :)

I met up with Nigel yesterday at the event and was lucky to have an exclusive, eyes-only-top-secret glimpse of the all-new Dandy. It's completely different to any version of The Dandy you've ever seen before, - in a good, nay, great way! A Dandy for the 21st Century.

I can't reveal any more unfortunately but... not long to go now!

lol, only 10 days to go. I bet the advert (I assume there is one) in next week's Beano won't give much away either... subscribers should already know the answer to that. ;)

It might be better if The Beano didn't advertise it until the following week, when The Dandy actually goes on sale.

Lew - are you permitted to reveal the page count and/or paper stock or would you be under threat of pencil-confiscation for that snippet of info?

The copy I saw was a dummy print out so I couldn't say for sure.

It comes out on the same day as The Beano now though. Isn't it better to promote in advance?

Hi all,

I've been following the news about the dandy relaunch with great interest and am really excited to see it's new format. Even more so as I am on holiday in the uk right now and will actually be able to walk into a store Wednesday next week and purchase a copy the day it comes out! And the following week too! I'l go home with two Xtremes and two new dandys!

Anyway, I've noticed the chatter in here die down a bit once we found out that it was to be mostly comics based and weekly once again. However the mystery has not been solved fully- there is still the question of how this new dandy is going to work... What is so different about it that has everyone involved so excited?

Some quotes from Nigels blog...
...something so unusual, so daring, so big, so appealing, that all the other components would slot into place naturally.

...I was sceptical, but I made The Phone Call. And it took 5 seconds to make it happen!
What is it that can be so different about this new dandy that makes it so good? I for one have no idea what it could be! And what is it that only Nigel could do to make this happen? What was THE phone call? I'm sure time will tell ( as Nigel certainly isn't :-), but it's fun to speculate in the meantime!

Ross

Ps- Jamie, I don't suppose we'll ever get to see any of the other logo options you did for the dandy?

I'll make sure I pick up the Sunday Post this week just in case there is a mention. Might be an advert at least. The Weekly News said they'd do an article it would have to be this weeks issue as the next one is next Thursday so wouldn't precede the comic itself.

Where's Inspector Dandy McLean when you need him most?
