It doesn't really affect me so much personally, blaing: I have the issues I especially want, with a few gaps to plug.

I did notice that there are a few hardcore followers who are putting up considerable prices on SPARKY these days.

In a way, I'm glad to see the comic being seriously persued in the collector's market.

I'm just glad I got most of mines when the price was reasonable!

What era of the comic do you especially seek out, blaing?

I'm really after the entire run, but I wish to complete the 1969-1977 issues first.

I have a few issues from 1965-1968, but I paid an arm and a leg for a few of them.

It's the 1969-71 issues especially that I was after, blaing; I simply couldn't face going through life without seeing them again! No other comic stalked my memory so much; in 2007 I paid 300 quid for very good condition issues of the entire 1969-70 Sparky run : they had been kept in brilliant condition by someone who had obviously looked after them. It was a lot to fork out, but I've never regretted it. Cheaper offers have turned up since, but nothing like the excellent condition copes I paid extra for.

My investment appears to be paying off, with some of these copies reaching 8 pounds a throw today: whether this will remain, we will see.

The remaining copies I have cost me roughly a pound each, if the actual condition isn't quite as good.

Today, it's mainly late 60s/early 70s BEEZER/TOPPER I seek out, as you may have twigged on here!

I have a backlog of these still to get through, with unopened packages of BEEZER I bought before Christmas.

I need five issues! One from 1965 and 1966 and three from 67! I also need better copies of ten! One better copy is No 78 which i'm bidding on E.Bay just now!

SPARKY Christmas issue 1970 now up to 60 quid in e-bay bidding war!

-----and still 5 days left! Others are jumping on the bandwagon, with other copies of the same issue starting around 40 quid. Even if this was the only copy I had missing from this period [it isn't] I still doubt if I would fork out this sort of dough for a childhood comic. Smashing cover, though!

Also some 1969 issues going for over a tenner each.

I can't really frown on those bids as look at my track record! I reckon it is the same two, three-or more- bidders who are afer all. Bet in six months, similar copies back to Â£3-5 each.

One of SPARKY'S best-ever covers, I reckon, by Peter Piper artist Vic Neill of course. I remember this issue very well first time round.......

At the other end of the value spectrum, here's issue ONE with starting price a princely 99p!

It has to be said the cover ain't in too good condition, though.....

Still, I suppose you could rustle up a 'fake' page one with a colour photocopy...still leaves the problemo of a complete Page 2 unless you know someone who can supply you with a photocopy of that as well........

as i have 0 issues i opened bids on sparkys since i got paypal and have been outbid every time cos i cant go higher than the opening bids

i had a name and password on 26 pigs a few years ago but never bought anything when i tried to log on yesterday it wouldnt let me so i tried a new name & password and it wouldnt let me either as it said my email add already had an account with it i cant win
