According to Jamie, he'd never even read the Sparky version, so you're right about it being "in name only". Any other similarities are just as coincidental.

Arena of Awesome was very funny this week..the teacher having a go at the whole concept of a huge bee..me thinks Jamie must have had a teacher like that.. :)

I'm not keen on Boneo eating cats unless they escape through his rib cage..liked this weeks strip better with the silliness of earning double the food for gold coins..

i just noticed on the bleedin big cover again that dandy seem to have stopped numbering each isssue the last few weeks looking back apart from on the inside.i wonder if that is to encourage people to pick it up & not wonder that they have missed the other 3500+ issues is it worth bothering about.

Nope, it's simply because of the new barcode system, which has the Saturday date and the recall date (Tuesday) leaving no room for the issue number. Beano moved it to the O of the logo. Perhaps Dandy should've put it next to "100% Funny" on the cover (in smaller text than used on page 3 obviously)?

I like the Beano's solution, if I can't exactly see how it would be transferable to the Dandy. Slanting up the descender of the Y, perhaps?

At the very least, I hope they do something soon, because it's getting annoying.

The Dandy logo doesn't have a descender. It's all caps.
And they're deliberately annoying you on purpose, as they clearly go out of their way to make your life a misery.

Reading my recent issues of the Dandy, How old is the Professor as in one, he was eying on a schoolgirl for a date!

Fear not. He's a boy genius. It's mentioned that he's still a child in other episodes.

Justgetting the thread back on its intended topic, anyone else notice the lack of non DCT adverts in this issue? Not one single advert apart from the usual one advertising the Dandy itself.

That can happen around this time of year I think. Advertising usually peaks towards Christmas, to promote the latest toys/games etc. Or at least that's how it used to be, but there are so many restrictions on what can be advertised in children's comics now. No sugary foods for example, or chocolate, or lollies. (Ah, for the days of Sugar Smacks ads. That was when breakfast cereals were allowed to have free gifts of course. And when Sugar Smacks still existed....)
