Issue 3 has a swastika on the cover, so I hereby predict yet another customs delay while they check that the obviously Indiana Jones-style adventure story isn't neo nazi propaganda.

Re: Any subscribers got their first issue yet?
From what we can gather, a Postman Prat character sabotaged delivery: although copies were all posted before Christmas, they required franking as bulk mail and the person assigned to do it, didn't. A huge backlog of corporate mail built up and the problem wasn't uncovered until just before New Year and clearance took some time.
I'm pleased to say that all those who got in touch to let us know about the delay have, bar one, been in touch to confirm receipt.
Not my favourite start to a New Year.

Brilliant cartoon, felneymike! It captures the spirit of the comic strip very nicely indeed.

Reading comics since 1970. My Current Regulars are: 2000 AD (1977-), Judge Dredd Megazine (1990-), Spaceship Away (2003-), Commando (2013-), Monster Fun (2022-), Deadpool and Wolverine (2023-), Quantum (2023-).

Issue 3 came today. Not sure about the 'poisoned chalice' bit of Starlord. I thought Mind Wars and Planet of the Damned were terrific. POTD actually being my favourite story.
Need to get around to reading the first two issues properly though. Currently going through Marvel's The Superheroes, plus work, to have any time left for it.
Looking nice though.

I think Moose was saying more about the circumstances under which the comic was created when describing it as a poisoned chalice, raher than the comic being poison itslef...starscape wrote:Issue 3 came today. I got my replacement copy of #2 (damaged in the post) and #3 today. This means I'm up to date tahnks to John's efforts. Much appreciated.
Re: Any subscribers got their first issue yet?
John: Presumably those two stories are mentioned as the sub-standard strips. Have a re-read of POTD - it's terrific stuff - apples that drown, acid rain, cannibals, torture, ladders that provide (deadly) lubrication. What's not to like? Mind Wars probably didn't suit the weekly format so well but it's great to read over a small period.

As I said, much of the article is about the problems that befell the comic when its format was changed just before launch, requiring script re-working etc. the kind of stuff the reader doesn't see when a title is published, but affects its chances of success. Speaking personally, I recall Mind Wars with fondness: loved the artstarscape wrote:John: Presumably those two stories are mentioned as the sub-standard strips. Re: Any subscribers got their first issue yet?
Had two great surprises yesterday: (1) My after half's son/girlfriend gave birth to their first baby girl and (2) No. 3 of Strip Magazine came through the door.
Another brilliant issue and liked the Starlord article. Just to think that by a quirk of fate, it could have easily been an article about 2000AD.
I loved all the strips. One thing I did disagree with in the Starlord article was the comment that Timequake artist Magallines Salinas was inferior. I thought he drew the strip very well and that his style far more suited the story than John Cooper's did and was a good replacement for Ian Kennedy.
Can't wait for No. 4.
