Krazy comic chat..

I discovered Krazy from Big comic as I was born in 1974 so missed this..
I like the one off pages like the mad nursery rhymes...the world's worst..
and when i did read an actual Krazy comic I liked the readers helping by sending in complete the joke..lots of readers input.. also the back page is great and I've fooled my Wife a few times.. :D :wave: She's on to me now..

Ello, its Cheeky really does stand out..no wonder it took off..
Paws is a nice strip and a great style of speed movement..lots and lots of action lines..

I think the one off pages.like a Krazy look at tv for example are the best bits..

Krazy certainly was a bold attempt to do something a little different with a British humour comic (inspired to a certain extent by Mad Magazine, I suspect), and in my opinion the attempt was successful.

I've often wondered if IPC hastened Krazy's demise with their decision to launch Cheeky Weekly - maybe more readers than they anticipated defected to the toothy funster's comic, leaving a depleted readership for Krazy.

I liked the back page disguises, might get a few out and see if I can trick anybody with them! :D

Krazy was a brilliant comic, funny strips and features (such as the dictionary definitions), plus lots of involvement with the reader! Krazy certainly lived up to it's name! :lol:

If I had to pick between Krazy comic and Cheeky Weekly I would go for Cheeky comic..so you could be right Niblet.

But both comics were great and very different..that has to be admired..

Krazy was my first regular comic when I was a boy and to be honest nothing else ever came close for me. The art was fantastic, the strips insane and Trevor Metcalfe's Birdman and Chicken still influences how I draw cartoons. (It's still my favourite cartoon strip after Sweeny Toddler). I used to love every strip which never happened again in any comic despite how good individual strips could be.

The Annuals (especially the first few) are amazing - I was gutted when they stopped as that was the end of an era for me. I always held out hope that Krazy would come back as long as the Annuals still appeared.

I still have a complete set from when I was a kid.

Over the weekend, my brother and I were discussing childhood comics and he mentioned that he used to love pongalongapongo. Mainly just because he found the name Pongo Snodgrass (or Snodgraddis as he used to pronounce it) to be one of the funniest names ever but also for the fantastic Ian Knox art.

Did anyone ever try and make any of his recipes I wonder?

That's a real shame - I remember getting that best of and before realising it was reprinted stuff, I honestly thought the comic was back :(

I don't think I ever picked up a summer special though so that's doubly annoying if there was one out then! :headbash:

After Krazy I moved onto cheeky weekly though so it wasn't all bad lol
