I assumed the A4 one was perhaps more "kid friendly" and the US-sized one more for adults. But then I looked at the A4 one and at the end the Joker's face gets carved off and pinned up on a wall, so hey ho.

Anyway about 50 issues of Bunty from 1993 - 4, for £3.98! They've got The Four Marys and The Comp as regular stories in full colour, plus another colour serial, a photo strip (shellsuits and dungarees ahoy!) and some black and white serials, which are shorter. The covers are all photos of girls, and "Bunty - A Girl Like You!" is mostly short 4-panel strips shoved inside somewhere. She also doesn't look like the 'real' Bunty who was previously on the cover!

I actually like the look of the A4 size comic version of Titans Batman but didn't realise the page count and price compared to the US format books (not a regular Batman /Titan Mag reader) - I Picked up the Muppets US comic issue 1 (Roger Langridge is imho brilliant) Paul Grists Mud Man issue 4, Neal Adams' Batman Odyssey 7 (I'm a big Neal Adams fan but dear lord Neal what was this all about!!!) and the highly underrated (and for me only decent DC new 52 book out there) "Worlds Finest" with the Huntress and Power Girl (George Perez and Kevin Maguire art) No UK comics this month yet not even a back issue.

My local Smiths seems to think it's kid friendly as well, purely due to its format. They have Dark Knight alongside Dandy, Simpsons, Transformers etc and Batman across the other side of the shop next to the Panini comics, SFX. Doctor Who Magazine, 2000AD etc.

In tiny print, Dark Knight has a Teen rating on the cover but I doubt that'll deter any irate parent from complaining if they later notice the gory content.

It's up to the parents to decide what's suitable for their kids. My feeling is that any parent buying it for a young child should flip through it first anyway. They'd soon see the grim artwork might not be suitable for six year olds.

The real losers will be Titan if Dark Knight doesn't reach the audience it's aimed at because it's stocked in the wrong section.

Bought the latest Beano and Dandy today, but didn't have enough money left on me to get the Ultimate Beano Summer Special No.3, which I hadn't expected to be out this year. I'll get it on Friday instead.

Also, I noticed WHSmith is selling the Panini Marvel Collectors Editions on 3 for 2.

It mentions sport, so it seems to be timed to coincide with the Olympics, as No.2 was for the Jubilee and No.1 was for Dennis's 60th birthday.

It's got a picture of Dennis with a cricket bat.

Oddly enough my branch had a stack of no.3 hidden behind their remaining copies of no.2! :?

Do they even have WHSmith in New Zealand?

An Ultimate Beano Summer Special for Christmas? Maybe... if you live in New Zealand!

A short break to Wiltshire, and I came back with 11 annuals - woops - the best of which was the Dandy Book 1953 for £10 - wahey!
