I was thinking ot one of my earliest memories of a comic and unless I'm imagining I remember a strip called Hazell's Diary in a pre-school comic - think it was Palyhour but no 100% sure.
May have spun out of Nutty Noodle (Hazell nut - and she looked like a squirrel - made sense).
I remember beacause I had a relevant annual and there was a picture/scene where she was at a party held in a railway station or something - I as a child used to open the page and spent ages looking in awe at the quality of the artwork, wanting to be part of that scene. My acadaemic comic-hating parents looked disapprovingly when they saw this (annual was given away by them behind my back sghortly aferwards! Boo hiss!)
Anyone any memories?

Re: Hazell's Diary
Actually, Hazell was a cockney private detective who appeared in the pages of Target during the 1970s. I seem to remember that a certain Terry Venables had some kind of hand in his creation.

I've seen a few episodes and it's nowhere near as good as The Sweeneyphilcom55 wrote:Actually, Hazell was a cockney private detective who appeared in the pages of Target during the 1970s. I seem to remember that a certain Terry Venables had some kind of hand in his creation.

Re: Hazell's Diary
I remember a similar strip about a squirrel in Playhour or Harold Hares Weekly but so long ago I'm not sure which one it may have been too many strips abut Squirrels in those books (plus there was Tufty so I get confused - but I remember he wasn't a cockney Squirrel detective/cop
)
Re: Hazell's Diary
I remember the Hazell TV series - used to light his fag in the opening titles & got his orders off a guy known as Choc Minty.
The lead was played bu Nicholas Ball who was the first hubby of Pamela Stephenson (lucky guy for a while!) - she who got her own strip in "Tops" in the 80s.
No luck finding out about Hazel's Diary - will have to try finding an old annual and sneaking a flick through it by the looks of it! (Or I've got the name wrong? A young childhood memory gone wrong?!)
