Re: What comics did you buy today?
I picked up the "Creativity of Ditko" book - a nice 205 page coffee table book today -it has a lot of complete 5/6 page type stories reprinted from his early Charlton and Marvel (Atlas?) mystery work with some one off Spidey , Warren, DC pages (and a few pencilled pages from a Charlton strip) - a really nice package and I only have 1 of the pages of art in it (a one off page from a Warren reprint) some nice 2-3 page intros form the likes of Paul Levitz etc and some very early Ditko photos - at £29.99 it good value ( although for me its the most expensive book/comic I think I have ever bought) one for the Ditko fans (like myself).

Bought 10 Beanos from 1970-71 for 50p eachnot bad, and along the market found a 1992 Oor Wullie Book. I know its not old or classic but I do enjoy the strips.

£9.95? It's supposed to be £5.99, that seller is making four quid profit per copy sold.

And two quid postage - we can pick them up ourselves for fellow forum members who live in the wilds and sell them at cover price.
BTW I loooked in my local Tesco tonight for the latest annuals and all they had was the Broons Summer Special with free playing cards from 2010. Very odd as I can never get the normal Broons and Oor Wullie books around here any more (London).

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Ugh, tell me about it! The only DCT annual Waterstones has is Oor Wullie.
Re: What comics did you buy today?
Ouch!
I thought the price was a bit expensive.
If anyone would like to help me out getting me a copy of Nos. 2 and 3 of the Beano Summer Specials (the WH Smith exclusives), please PM me, and I'll also pay for postage as well. (provided of course they are still available.)

Sorry I had to tell you you'd been ripped off, Bruce. At least you're getting a quality magazine packed with classic comics.
Re: What comics did you buy today?
Still need to get the Dandy 75th Anniversary Collectors Special (when I checked Smiths last, it wasn't there).
2000AD 1800 was great with brilliant Dredd artwork from Chris Weston.
Judge Dredd Megazine 328 I am still reading.
The Dandy 3598 was good. Just a little sad about the advert encouraging you to get the Beano after its demise.
But the cream of the crop (but not a comic as such) is this year's Dandy Annual. A real labour of love (like the comic) and it was nice to see current artists drawing old characters (my highlights were Black Bob, Julius Sneezer and Winker Watson). Absolutely brilliant.

Reading comics since 1970. My Current Regulars are: 2000 AD (1977-), Judge Dredd Megazine (1990-), Spaceship Away (2003-), Commando (2013-), Deadpool and Wolverine (2023-), Quantum (2023-), Fantastic Four (2025-).

Those Broons Summer Annuals in Tesco were three for a fiver and they had three left so what the hell...
Re: What comics did you buy today?
Whizzer & Chips 21st/28th June 1980 and Whoopee 12th January 1980.
Highlights: both Ralph Rogan and Whizz Wheels, and everything else I loved from that period in W&C. Same for Whoopee, including a rare Mike Lacey Sweeney Toddler.
Ah, those were the days...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Today's eBay wins include another issue of Plug (bringing my collection up to TWO!), and four of the later issues of Acne (may as well go for the full set, loved it when I was 12).

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Just bought The Beezer Book 1982, Bash Street Kids 1989, and Beryl the Peril 1975 from the Scope charity shop in Hull city centre. There was a LOT of others that I didn't buy, so guess which thread I'm posting in next...
Re: What comics did you buy today?
Just on the subject of the Specials and annuals I picked up the Dandy Special in Bath aswell as the Art and History of the Dandy. Both great books, I can also buy the Beano and Dandy annuals (Im getting these for Christmas) although I can't find any of the broons or Oor Wullie books. I can get them off Amazon.
Re: What comics did you buy today?
Waterstones and WHSmith should have the Oor Wullie book.
