Thanks...just discovered that myself...got it working at last...

it is at the early stages this type of comic...But I can see it getting better...

brassneck and numskulls were great...But would prefer it as a page setup so you can print it off rather than one panel at a time..
Also does brassneck end as him as a bike...its hard to see when the strip ends..
also did Kate use her nose to smell the chips...

it takes ages to load and very jerky...But it can only get better..
hope they put up a retro page to enjoy or two..

These digital downloads----can anyone tell me, once you pay for,---and recieve------your download, is it yours for 'keeps', and also can you transfer it permanently to shiney disc or external hard drive? [I expect you can, but it's something I've never actually done].

This technology is still fairly new, so expect muchos teething problems: many specialist mags [Cinefex/Famous Monsters of Film land] have already gone this route, [as an option to paper] and many fans are complaining about the unreliability of the digi-format.

I'm a little bit worried as my computer is old...
I can't seem to see the dummy issue...just the first picture and not able to scroll or change the page...

still no email to access the new online issue...anyone seen it yet?

Issue Zero is the only issue available right now. Click on the pictures to go to that story, there's no page numbering. I'd like to see a drop down list on the side added, that way you can go from one story to the next without returning to the cover.

No probs Peter glad you got it sorted, I'm sure DCT will take note of everyone's queries & sort any teething problems up. From what I've heard they are keen to have a back issue retro download page added where in principal you could eventually download any issue from its 75 year run.

Going forward a normal print style download option would be a good idea for those that want to use it.

My opinions from Issue 0:

Desperate Dan: Very dull, nothing happened - I know it's only a taster but the whole thing looks nasty with very off-putting narrator boxes and awful animation!

Bananaman: Far better - was a good taster with some decent uses of animation (such as 'Fazoom!' and the door being knocked down). Artwork was very nice as well - the transformation stage looked especially good!

Brassneck: Like 'Bananaman', had some far better uses of animation but I really dislike the animation as I like the artist having to show movement - looks far nicer. Good artwork for Brassneck though and had some good bits - but the jokes were very weak.

The Numskulls: Probably my favourite story in there along with Bananaman. I like how Jamie's versions of the Numskulls are far different to The Beano versions with wrestlers, dinosaurs and robots controlling Alex Bonce (rather than Edd) - although the humour is never as good when it's done by a font, Jamie's humour only works with his art and hand-writing. Honestly, you'd have thought they'd known that...

Keyhole Kate: This is certainly an interesting approach. Never imagined Keyhole Kate as an adventure strip but y'know, there's a first time for everything! Humour is really poor though and the animation is simply shocking.

Kev the Caveman: A reprint of a reprint... http://playercartoons.blogspot.co.uk/20 ... ungle.html - reprinted in The Dandy under the name 'Off the Vine', it now returns being called 'Kev the Caveman'. Really? Worse yet, the speech bubbles have been replaced and suddenly the humour is gone. Brilliant the first time round - just annoying the third time round. Notably, the artwork is different so just a reprinted script. This confuses me so much...

Hammy the Hopping Mad Hamster: A mini-strip by Graham Howie. Not too bad but certainly not hilarious. At least there's no awful animation.

Bad Hair Day: Certainly not hilarious like Alexander's past work. But quite decent, should be more than a mini-strip though...

Retro Active: Has the potential to be something but the stupid animation and panning just distracts me (along with the awkwardly-placed speech bubbles). Still, great artwork by Wayne Thompson as usual.

OVERALL: Pretty bad. Jarring animation, full of bugs and not very funny - this needs fixing if The Dandy are planning to stay in this style. Firstly by removing the awkward one panel per frame thing - what was wrong with just having the pages laid out entirely - instead we're treated to confusing arrows, buttons and other mess.

Very disappointed.

I suppose it falls between two stools is it animation or a comic page!

Also lets face it we're all feeling down after seeing the last paper Dandy so nothing will cheer us up at the moment..

Agreed. I know some don't like Issuu (used by The Beano) but it works nicely and all the pages are clear. The Dandy should have simply used that.

Comic page, any day! Some animation is okay but I personally prefer the artist having to illustrate the movement - far more appealing.

Reading comics on a screen does take a bit of getting used to----it will never be quite the same as reading the actual paper equivalent, but it does get easier. I don't think you can read onscreen comics for more than a few issues in one sitting, though---the screen is too un-natural.

But, as has been stated already, the technology will improve......
