Last ever issue of comics. Did any get such hype like Dandy?

I do recall Jackie had a bit of media coverage when they ended. I have got the last Beezer and Topper merged comic and that was mainly business as usual.

Did Buster and Bunty and other long running comics get such media coverage when they ended?

None were as long running as the Dandy. Buster ended just shy of it's 40th birthday. The Dandy lasted almost twice as long! Of course nothing else got such coverage, none of the others were titles that your grandparents or even great grandparents may have read as children!

And the internet was only in it's infancy then (well actually the mechanisms that came to be the internet had existed for decades, but it was only about 99/2000 that ordinary people really started getting on it). I think web chatter had a lot to do with the Dandy being hyped as much as it has been, even if it was only comments on newspaper websites saying "I used to love the Dandy, Dennis the Menace and Dan Dare were great!".
If the internet hadn't been around, I doubt we would have got the grand send-off issue, let alone anything else.

At one time, many comics simply merged, until finally becoming extinct: in the case of IPC, their 'funnies' line dissolved with Buster, which met with little fanfare [although I was aware of it closing]: if the BEANO ever goes [and I sincerely hope it doesn't], it will be a very sad/Historic day indeed.

The Dandy is a special case as it's ending at the same time as it celebrates a major anniversary. This justifies the extra length of the final issue.
100 page final issue+ separate 75th anniversary special + special anniversary themed annual + Art and History of the Dandy coffee table book + new website= big PR push.
Of course, the big PR push would have fallen flat on its face if the Dandy wasn't such a recognised and well-loved title.

Usually there's no hype because there's nothing to sell, except if there's a merger and they want to push the first issue of the combined comic.
