What happened to Yellowed Pages??!!

Post by Prodigal »

There's no sign of Yellowed Pages or the good Captain Storm on the interweb!

Please tell me the absence is temporary.

Crumbled to dust and blew away in the wind perhaps? Never let your pages get yellow. (And never eat yellow snow.)

I honestly thought that the demise of something as good as yellowed pages would get more attention on here.

It may have been removed but you should still be able to access the web cache (or whatever it's called) for the last recorded page here:

That won't last long... :(

I wonder, has it been hacked? Captain Storm's profile page now shows something about Togher History Society. http://www.blogger.com/profile/03527954037605588052

Here's his profile from Wayback Machine. http://web.archive.org/web/201303271214 ... 7605588052

See the number at the end of the url? They match. Yet these seem to be two different profiles.

Wayback Machine only has a version of the blog from August 10th. Well one month lost is better than several years I suppose.

If the demise is permanent it saddens me. I really only came back into the British comic fold a few years ago and Yellowed Pages was an indispensable companion to my zealous return.

It certainly doesn't look as though Captain Storm intended to bring it to an end as the last entry has a 'to be continued' sign. :?

I hope he's ok as he seemed a decent enough chap (and stood up to some vicious heckling from a troll a few times). However, the material he was uploading wasn't his copyright, and he was uploading a lot, so perhaps that had something to do with it? Publishers are clamping down on piracy.

I know that's just a typo , and that you really do know how to spell 'vicious' Lew, but somehow I can't help thinking there's something wonderfully appropriate about describing a troll's incontinent outpourings as 'viscous'! :)

Ha! I've corrected it now, Phil. Thanks for pointing that out. Although it works either way.

Actually, Captain Storm received no 'heckling from a troll', 'vicious' or otherwise - if someone is referring to the time I politely alerted CS to the fact that his 'complete' scans of the first issue of The Beano were four pages short. (And that his scans of the first issue of The Dandy were from a mini-facsimile - not the D.C. Thomson Firsts book.) I even sent him the missing pages. In return, it was I who received much heckling and insults for trying to be helpful, with him submitting many abusive and deceitful messages to the comments section of my blog posts. This has continued until relatively recently.

Putting the record straight in light of the inaccuracies of a biased forum member. However, rather than get involved in a public stushie, anyone with anything to say on the subject can do so via the personal message system that this excellent forum extends to its members.
