Comics Unmasked at the British Library

Post by babington »

If you haven't seen this exhibition at the British Library yet, don't miss it! Fans of British humour comics can enjoy a double-Jonah spread by Ken Reid from the DC Archives which is worth the entry price alone! And of course there's lots more, in a smart, eye-opening look across British comics through the years. One thing I liked about it was the range - there's lots of nineteenth-century comics, even a bit of John Dee, and a real mix of genres. My only complaint was that everyone's favourite junior subversive Dennis the Menace seems to be absent from the show... but really, it's excellent and well worth seeing!!

And if you have seen it, what did you think of it? ...

There was a piece on Radio 4's Arts prog. at 7.15 last night (or was it the night before)? but I didn't think the review was long enough, or deep enough. It was mainly concerned with the British names who do American G.N.'s, I thought.
