The Dandy - My Children's Favourites....

I buy The Dandy every week for my 7 year-old (and The Beano for my eldest who is 9)...

They DO read them themselves but I also take the opportunity to read them to them as 'bedtime stories' when my wife lets me get away with it!!

Anyway - they REALLY love both Cuddles And Dimples (they laugh out loud at the humour and art in this strip - nice one Nige!) and Jak -- they are their favourite strips. In fact I asked them to give me their favourites in order and they are:

1 - Cuddles and Dimples
2 - Jak
3 - Desperate Dan
4 - Beryl
5 - Bananaman
6 - Ollie Fliptrick
7 - Brassneck
8 - Class Act
9 - Blinky
10 - Blubba & The Bear

For further information they both really enjoyed Winker Watson recently as well and would have put that at around number 5 if it was still running.

...and by the way, and this is FROM the target audience, he actually cried when I told him that The Dandy might only come out once every other week shortly... (in case you are reading Mr Editor!)

Does anyone else here buy Beano / Dandy for their offspring ? What are their favourites etc ?

I don't have any kids but my dog (1985 - 2003) used to like the free frisbees. Does that count?

I buy 2 copies of the Dandy each week - one for my 11 year old nephew and one for me... guilty pleasure, I know!

My nephew reads it with his mates and Cuddles & Dimples is their absolute favourite. Desperate Dan is second, Beryl the Peril third. Interestingly the annoying reprints (Class Act, Blubba etc) rate as their LEAST favourites.

And, yes, they LOVED the character of Winker Watson... bring that wangling schoolboy BACK! Especially for the Dandy's 70th year! PLEASE!

We have two pet hamsters, Adzo and Molly, and both are keen on a wide range of comic titles which, given half a chance, they'd devour by the pouchful.
