What comics DIDN'T you buy today?

One book I will be looking out for is the Titan war book you recently mentioned on your blog.

Do you mean Johhny Red? That's a monthly comic, not a book. If it's collected into a book it's not likely to be until next summer at the earliest, after all 8 issues have been published.

yes (I meant comic book as against standard book)
Because of involvement in christmas I keep forgetting to nip into Forbidden Planet to check if they have it.
The Leicester branch of The Works often have deliveries of Titan books but these of course are a lot later than their
original published date.
A few years ago I bought a Garth Ennis comic which I think was called War Story (which is buried somewhere amongst my comic collection.)and I thought that the story and artwork were brilliant.

I have no problem in paying over the odds for a certain comic that one badly needs/requires, especially if it's a copy that doesn't appear regularly on auctions. Of course, I accept that finances of one's expenditure is a factor. But if you can shell out that extra tenner or twenty at that moment in time, go for it. I suppose it's all about priorities; make a list and endeavour to stake out what's at top of that list while, at the same time, taking heed of the lower priorities that may be obtained at a bargain. I always believe in patience; if one gets away, don't get too disillusioned because a week later that same one may appear and be available at a much lesser price than the last. Many times I've lost out on something and then, a week or a month later, I managed to win it at a price far less than I initially bid. There are very few comics that are ultimately unique. They were originally published for a nationwide audience and, therefore, should not be prohibitive in sale for the future. One day... you will have what you seek... where comics are concerned, anyway.

The price you pay reflects the need for that comic or book.If you pay your highest price for something then you have to consider how important that comic or book is to the rest of your collection.In a football analogy if you have to pay a record amount for a player then you have to consider whether he his better than the players you already have.

One day I'll have the AP annual that said "All Things Come To Those Who Wait", if I ever manage to figure out which one it was! That's part of the problem for me, I can't just nip into the British Library and track these mystery books and comics down.

If you could at least narrow it down, Sue, to a range of years (such as between 1967 and 1972 for example), and give an indication as to where the sentence might have appeared (on the front of the dustwrapper, title of an article, for example) it will give members more of an incentive to search their own collections. I hope someone can find it for you.

Hi adam thanks for that but yea i saw it and as much as im tempted there is a coupon cut out of it and i know it would bug me especially paying so much. i paid £40 for 2000ad iss 1 a few years ago and there is like half a page missing in that and i want to replace that and would never have paid that had i know at least the seller says in description that a coupon is missing.

I know how you fee Bri about cut-out coupons from within an issue. I've experienced that a few times: Plug no.1 (even though it came with free gift); Battle no. 2, again with free gift. Star Wars no.1, again with free gift and which was in bits! Thankfully, this was quickly replaced when I purchased a whole series of Star Wars with all free gifts and posters intact... cost me £150 a good few year ago, which seems a bargain now.

The Broons are in black and white and not in colour as last year.
Viz have not followed up with last years Adventure book.
Not heard anything from you guy's about reprint annuals in Sainsbury's
There is a store in town called New Stories which have
70s girl comics reprints by Egmont at 99p.
Best of Beezer by Pedigree at 99p
Plus a thin war comics book in a sealed plastic bag,which traces the changes in war comics over the years and far as I can see has a few images of war comic covers like Victor etc and includes a comic strip of Charlies war.£2.99p
I keep looking at these three books but am still undecided.

The Beezer and 70s Girl books are a year old so you won't find them any cheaper than 99p.

There are of course loads of UK graphic novels and indie comics out. You could treat yourself to this comic....
