Huh, didn't know there was a Defenders of the Earth comic - loved that cartoon as a kid.

I'm sure it's a reprint of the American Marvel series, which drew together the King characters, Phantom, Mandrake and Flash Gordon. Not my favourite version of The Ghost Who Walks by far.

Yes, I have #3 and was surprised to find it in pocket library format. The British guide is way out on this one, showing only issues 1 & 2 from 1959. So does anyone know how many were in the run?

Yeah, I went through a phase of carrying a rope over my left shoulder, due to a mild obsession with Lothar

OOOOOPS! Now that's an odd one  More revelations to look forward to?

Of course, nearly forgot, Lothar is now The Phantom, according to those strange people at Dynamite Comics. Who'll be next? Jungle Jim, Zarkof, perhaps Dale Arden as Lady Phantom? The mind boggles.

Marvel UK from the 1970s was my first true love! I sadly sold complete sets of Dracula Lives, Savage Sword of Conan and Star Wars a few years ago as I didn't think I'd ever read them again. I still have full sets of Titans, Avengers, Planet of the Apes, Superheroes, Complete Fantastic Four, MWoM, Captain Britain and over 600 Spiderman Comics Weekly (about 40ish needed for the set). I have the #1s of the remaining Star Wars, Conan, Dracula Lives, Rampage, Hulk Weekly and Fury but not the sets........yet!

Marvel to me as a kid meant the Ren & Stimpy, Beavis & Butt-Head and Mighty Max comics, loved those things - naturally the younger me had no idea they were reprints, guessing he wouldn't care either. Each issue of those usually had the equivalent of two US issues included, and a LOT less adverts too.

Anyway, got a fair bit this week:

-This month's Viz, a LOT better than it has been the past couple of years, which is a nice surprise.
-Cozmic Comics No.6
-Two Fred Schrier comics from Rip Off Press and The Print Mint - The Balloon Vendor and Meef Comix
-Trombone No.1 ("International comics humour" including Hunt Emerson, Edika, Carali, Juba, Maester, Ouin and Willem)
-Time Twisted Tales by Dave Sheridan
-The Big Lift No.3
-Fooey ("The world's craziest magazine") Vol.1 No.1 - one of those MAD imitators from 1961
-Scraps No.1 (comic fanzine from Mike Higgs)
-Big Noz - an Edika book
-Blast! issues 1-7 (short-lived 2000AD-style comic/magazine from 1991)
-Thirteen issues of Computer & Video Games from the mid-90s (not really relevant here but they were in the same package as the issues of Blast so there you go)

2000AD Prog 2000 with the Cliff Robinson cover from 2000ADOnline. I already got the Chris Burnham version via subscription.

:soapbox: As a loyal 'Squaxx dek Thargo', a long-term direct subscriber, a 'Deca Thargo' and 'Seto Thargo' (though Tharg wouldn't know the last two), getting a full set of Prog 2000 with their various covers would have been a show of appreciation to a loyal reader but there you go.
