One of mine didn't have it either, but there's another branch to check yet. Annoyingly, they'd also run out of that 3 for £1 Winalot dog food they sell.
Re: What comics did you buy today?
I struck an issue of BeanoMAX, Issue 46 while on holidays in Melbourne (still here till Monday, mind)
Seeing that the Beano and the Dandy go on sale here today, I'll see if I can strike them in my travels today. (fingers crossed!)

At Deptford flea market yesterday I picked up a copy of Speakeasy and a Fantasy Advertiser which had an article on Mike Higgs by Lew Stringer. Also got three vintage annuals for a quid each in very good condition: Rainbow 1956 and Girls' Crystals 1956 and 1958.

Won a 1970 Australian (Rosnock) Tarzan on ebay this week and over 50 War and Battle picture libraries from Fleetway. Also won serveral of the 1982 Egmont DC reprints with those beautiful painted covers.
Oh, and also a 1982 Beezer annual.

Re: What comics did you buy today?
I wanted a post in here to be my 1000th, but I got outbid on a few things (like a bound complete collection of Tornado!) so didn't buy anything interesting in time XD.
Anyway.
The newest 4 Commandos ("Pirate Breed" looks excellent!)
Union Jack old series No. 186, from 1897
Real Heroes - Courage Under Fire, the follow up to the book Real Heroes. This time the comic strips are not CGI-generated, but drawn! The style is a little wierd though, and the drawing still looks like it's been completely done on computers, but it's a step in the right direction.
Also book 3 of Bakuman, which is a Japanese comic about some teenagers trying to get into the manga industry, it's pretty good... so far. But Japanese comics tend to get excessively contrived and boring as they go along, I hope this bucks the trend and ends in good time.

Like the cover on Pirate Breed very much since I saw on Lews blog the other day. Hope I make it to the shops this week in time to get one.

Re: What comics did you buy today?
This week, I received some newspaper strips and comic reprints from ADCCC. 3 Paul Temole strips and 2 Jet Ace Logan reprints from Comet. From the sophistication of Temple to the impulsive, reckless charm of J.A. Logan. Great stuff.
I looked in a couple of newsagents this morning but couldn't find Commandos, Beano or Dandy. Or some of the other titles mentioned. But the shelves in Asda and Smiths were a mess, so I could have missed them.

You should buy them on the day they come out if you can. They may have been sold out. Or yes, you could be right about mess making them hard to find.

I both of the Smith's i regularly go to at the moment Commando is in a seperate box. In Lincoln it was put with the US comics (Panini reprints), which don't have cover mounts so it doesn't get as buried!
Re: What comics did you buy today?
Won on ebay today, the Gambols 1982 collection and a 1982 issue of Star Love Stories.

Just won the complete (22 issue) run of `Jet` comic (1971) at about £3.00 per issue! Worth it for the "Bala the Briton" strip alone!
A Face unclouded by thought.

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Sod all to do with comics, but I just got 8 issues of this US import special effects mag for a mere quid each:

Doubt if it will be as good as the CINIFEX special on the 1933 Kong, though: epic literature, of the highest order!
I love special effects/films just as much as I love comics: it's all visual appreciation, readers........

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Today, I bought a six month subscription to both The Beano and The Dandy, so that I'm no longer searching for either title here in my neck of the woods. (it has been fruitless trying to buy it here, anyway.)
See the post on my blog here for the fun I had searching for the Beano and the Dandy while I was on holidays in Melbourne more than two weeks ago.
