What comics DIDN'T you buy today?

I was at a bootsale today on one of the stalls a guy had a pile of marvel uk starwars comics he wanted £2 each for them then I found some more marvel uk comics these were asst super hero and dracula plus all were well read these were 50p each, as last week I got the marvel Dracula 500 page reprint for £2 I left them behind as well, saw lots of modern beano etc annuals and a few very tatty 50s cowboy annuals

I tried to buy this week's Beano, but the shop I was going to get it from, NewsPlus at North Point Shopping Centre, appears to have closed down without warning. They have two branches there, both were shut. Now nowhere at North Point sells the Beano. Will get it from Asda tomorrow instead.

Already mentioned it, but one of the many Oxfam's in Cambridge had a huge load of annuals in, as well as maybe 40-50 issues of Spike for 99p each. Once they sold great big lumps of Bunty for £1.99, I'll wait and see if the Spike's get bundled in future (though I'd be willing to pay more than £1.99 for the lot!). I did buy one though, mainly for blog purposes.

Also left a load of annuals I fancied, DCT adventure comic ones, Girls ones (there was quite a few Tammy's) and some football ones. As well as some 'super' ones with a superhero on the cover, but generic boys' own stories inside (looked like they were from the early 60's). Leaving the annuals was more about weight than cost!

Would've picked up the Dandy Christmas Cracker, but WHSmith only had the Summer Special. The Beano Christmas Cracker, which I already picked up, was also missing.... seems like they under ordered. Still, I'll keep looking, as they'll likely remain on sale for the rest of the year.

Those Christmas cracker Dandy and Beano bookazine (who thinks these silly names up I mean "bookazine"...) these are becoming a bit elusive as there are non to be seen at my not that local WH Smith

^Yeah, I have the Beano one, but still no Dandy. And yet there's plenty of the Dandy Summer and Beano 70th Anniversary specials still in stock!

The Beano turned 70 five years ago so why are the special issues still on sale? And summer is a distant memory if they didn't sell back in the baking heat they won't sell in the freezing cold as for these Christmas cracker specials why are they are a store exclusive? Don't DCT realise comic fans also go to other shops?

Exclusives are a way to ensure the comics are taken by the shops. (In theory.) Too bad they're not better displayed in some branches though. It kind of defeats the object of exclusives if Smiths shove them behind other comics.

I went this afternoon to WHS and asked one of the staff if they had any in stock and they hadn't a clue what I was on about as the lady said they've got the weekly Beano but non of the Christmas cracker issues because they've never heard of them!! Oh well the search continues

I had the same experience with Smiths staff when asking about the summer specials. They had them in stock eventually though.

You could buy them direct from Thomsons, or do you want to look through them before you decide to buy them?

The Dandy Christmas Cracker is on the D.C Thomson website but Beano Christmas Cracker isn't. Does anybody know why? Will it be going up at a later date?
