Bought a couple of Airfix Catalogues in a Junk Shop.

here is a scan of somethose OO/HO soldiers from 1971 catalogue.

Great and the skill it took to paint them.

Can do more if anyone is interested.Especially the forts and playsets-which nearly all my friends fondly remembered when they saw the catalogue

Did anybody ever have a try and painting some of those cheap toy soldiers that came in plastic bags to make them a little better looking? i did with a few - complete with the predictable shout of "PINK?" by my mum when i told her what colour airfix paint i needed in the middle of a busy shop. I should have known better really. (Or relocated my wars to Africa)

The most I did was to paint the top of the Union soldiers' caps red. i do remember putting them on a board and putting little piles of gunpowder (taken from some bangers) around so i could create explosions. But when i lit one they all went off and all the soldiers' rifles melted into a small blob.
