Should corporal punishment be altered in Classics?

Peter! As long as a note is given, explaining the morality of the era, then they can be included! It is done on old radio repeats! eg "The Clithero Kid". Just before one repeat (on Radio7) the announcer explained the show had references to asian people that would not be allowed today! The show then went ahead..and yes! the `comedy` was a bit racist in tone! It is down to individual judgement really!

I collect much vintage comedy DVDS from the 60s and 70s, and true, much of it is pretty tasteless, but is stuff like 'LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR' really some sort of serious threat to the nation's wellbeing? [incidentally, I haven't seen this show since original transmissions, mostly because the 'plots' were too repetitive]

I've never seen modern shows like the 'OFFICE', so I can't really comment on much of today's stuff, however I stumbled across a show called 'BO' SELECTA' on youtube, and if this is a typical example of more modern comedy, it has definately regressed to the point where 'CARRY ON' takes on the stature of 'high art'.
