True, and Jenson failed to score any points in today's race so that's another race where one of McLaren's drivers has failed to score. Their lack of consistency in the recent GPs may cost them the constructors' title.

However, of the retirements, only one was down to mechanical failure - Hamilton's gearbox failed when he was fourth in Hungary. Button's non-finish in Belgium wasn't his fault, he was taken out by bad driving from Vettel, but Hamilton's retirement in Italy was because he took a risk he didn't need to take and damaged his wheel against Massa's car. In Singapore he had a racing incident with Mark Webber which ended his race (though Webber managed to continue). Earlier in the season, Hamilton lost second in Spain due to a wheel failure and Button failed to finish the Monaco GP because a mechanic left a bung in his exhaust.

By comparison, of the Ferrari drivers, Alonso's only non-finishes were in Malaysia (engine failure) and Belgium (spun off and crashed), while Massa's sole retirement was due to an accident in Japan, although Red Bull have also had a number of retirements, partly due to reliability but also because of accidents (both Webber's non-finishes were down to crashes, whereas Vettel has had two mechanical retirements and one accident).
