I always assumed that 1975 book was censored because it was a Fleetway annual for the children's market. The one they did the following year, in the more traditional (for newspaper reprints) landscape format was uncensored.

Anyway, rather than speculating which strips they're reprinting has anyone been out to buy a Daily Mirror yet to find out? (I'm waiting in for a parcel or I'd have checked it myself.)

That's sad to hear, Max: they can edit the erotic stuff for a family newspaper by all means, but the material should have been left as it was originally for discerning book-buyers [presumably which included many readers from first time around].

Garth definately explored adult themes, and hopefully the original versions will turn up in a book collection for adults; I seem to remember a mid-80s softback GARTH book with a cover by Ian Gibson; dunno if this was all-new material, or what.

Both Garth and Simons Cat take up the space vacated by Scorer, although they've moved the strips around. From the top it's Andy Capp, Simons Cat, Horace, Mandy, Perishers, Garth

Website still needs updating. Not only is Scorer's last three weeks not up (it wouldn't surprise me if they simply removed it instead, to be honest), but also, there's no Garth. Unlike Wallace and Gromit in the Sun, I see no reason for it not to be on the website. Simon's Cat has a separate page, instead of being on the Cartoons one.

Perhaps they want people to buy the paper first instead? Or perhaps they haven't had time to update the strip section. News being the priority after all.

Are you sure Scorer is three weeks behind? The one on the site is coded 'V41'. The final one was 'V43', so presumably the website is only two episodes behind?

Anyway; Garth looks good. They're reprinting two episodes, which is great. Unfortunately they're reproduced smaller than they were in 1975 so Bellamy's artwork lacks a little of the power it conveyed back then.

The Garth strips are in colour which they weren't first time around so an added bonus. (unless you're a purist - my mate Steve berates me for liking colourised films like Scrooge with Alastair Sim and The Longest Day).

Here's today's strip. The Mirror has quite a good line up of strips so i'm going to cut the section out each day and put them into A4 plastic wallet/binders.

It looks good at that size. Pity the Mirror's printing strips so small these days, but that's been an ongoing problem for newspaper strips for years. (Especially in the USA.)

That's where I got three weeks from, Lew. We're three weeks into February now. There's no date on the Cartoons page, and it appears the Fun and Games section has the wrong date.

Well, that's a suprise to have a little bit of colouring in there - but i can see why they'd do that to make the strip fit in well with the others, and its actually quite subtle.
Also nicely suprised to see its a non-collected tale so, like Stevezodiac, i'm going the same route of collecting and putting them in an album.

Be careful what you wish for. It's just been updated to today's strips, including Garth, so the final few Scorers, and the first chapter of this Garth run have been skipped.

The 'Fun and Games' section of the website is low priority for a newspaper I suppose so the best way to keep up to date with the strips would be to buy the paper, or at least browse through it.

As a fan of Westerns and the real west and Civil War its a double bonus for me. My collection of Real West magazines are probably my most prized possesion, even above any comics....I think.

That old question "If your house was on fire what would you rescue?" I'd burn to death debating over the Real Wests, Mad Magazines or Power Comics. probably the latter.

The Mirrors strips are too tall for A4 wallets, drat!
