On a related note there was a French dealer at the last ABC mart in London who seemed very reasonable. Here, for example, is a digest title from 1957 which reprinted one of Ron Turner's classic issues of the
Tit-Bits Science Fiction Comic - a snip at £2.50!
I also got other numbers which reprinted Rick Random adventures from
Super Detective Library as well as some nice DC Silver Age reprints from the same period - all at similar prices. (Sadly I couldn't find the issue which featured Ron's last two
Tit-Bits stories that were never printed in the UK!)

That was a good one. I will try to get to the next one. My pal, John, travels down for them and he always comes back with good stuff. I'll try to keep holidays out of the way next time.

If you want a look at some Spanish reprints of classic British strips, here are links to a great site from Chile. (Sorry, had to come back in and edit this, as I wrote Spanish instead of Chile) Spider, Kelly's Eye and Mytek. If you have a rake about, you'll find some more. Sorry if I've duplicated previous refs.

For anyone who hasn't seen these Spanish versions:-

Includes the 2 different Spider titles and The Steel Claw. I chose the Claw's super suit as I rather like it.

I think you will find that these are all in French, Paw, not Spanish.

Thanks for showing them Paw. Funny how nobody ever seemed able to decide what colour the Spider's costume was - I've seen green, blue, black, yellow, red and grey versions over the years.
Maybe it was a bit like Mrs Slocombe's hair in
Are You Being Served...?

Of course they are French versions -that's obviously why I wrote Spanish. So, that's all clear now. I had thought I was putting them in the French kids comics entry, then thought that they aren't really kids comics in that sense. Confusion all round. Also, I had scanned a cover of Flierman, the Spanish version, only to find the same cover was used in the links I had previously posted. It all continues to illustrate the point that lots of comics and strips from a number of different European countries were reprinted in others and I'm tempted to scan a couple of Italian Mister X comics and the Dutch reprints. But I'd probably credit them as Norwegian. Perhaps I'll stick to the French versons of Captain Hornet, King Cobra, Masque de Cuir etc, unless someone else gets there first - I am a bit slow.
First time I've heard The Spider compared to Mrs. Slocombe. Nice one.
