At 26pigs their resident girls comic expert Briony notes: "Girl & Tammy (1984) - I didn't see much of this one, since Tammy vanished suddenly before merging with Girl. I later saw "Tammy" on the cover of Girl but it looks like Tammy brought nothing to Girl." (http://www.26pigs.com/tammy/bibliography.html)

It seems therefore that there was no announcement in Tammy comic itself of any upcoming merger. and that Tammy may well have been a victim of the 1984 strike. I wonder if it was in similar circumstances to Pink in 1980?[/quote]

didn't scream vanish suddenly as well before emerging weeks or months later merging with eagle or am i wrong cos all my brothers screams were thrown away as a kid and they are too expensive to buy now

@Big Bad Bri:

There is this quote from "Back from the Depths", the Scream! website:
"Then, after only 15 issues, (in June 1984) Scream! mysteriously ended. Rumours of strikes at IPC Magazines, the comic's creators, could have been the cause."

Given what we know about Tammy, and the strikes, it would certainly seem there is a connection as Scream! also disappeared at the same time without any announcement either...

I wonder if strikes related to any other titles being cancelled?

We now have Pink in 1980, and Tammy and Scream in 1984 cancelled as a result of/during strikes.

I've heard it said that Sally was also cancelled as a result of a strike that stopped it from appearing for several weeks during the early 1970s. When it finally reappeared IPC felt its circulation had been so badly damaged that it'd be more sensible to start a brand new title instead of attempting to regain all the momentum that had been lost during the break. Thus Tammy was launched in February 1971 with the express intention of swallowing it's older sibling!
