My eleven year old self, absolutely obsessed with comics and sci-fi, only bought a couple of issues in the early days...it never looked exciting enough. And most of the covers, undoubtedly well painted by some of the greats, felt inert and undramatic next to 2000ad, Starlord and Star Wars Weekly. Even when it became a little more fantasy based, I only bought the odd issue if there was a dearth of other stuff on the racks. Tellingly, here was a also a lack of love for the comic among my similiarly obsessed friends.
Maybe it was aimed at an older, more literate reader...I don't know, but I can't see a Starblazer collection selling very well.

The original comics sell pretty well.
