How about comics you didn't know existed? Looking through a copy of Back Issue last night (No. 28 from June 2008) and I spotted this. Relevant to this topic because the writer says he spent almost a decade hunting down a copy. My quest for a copy starts here and now.

Erk!...Mine too!

Presumably the stories are text-only, but Alex Toth...WOW!!! :)

I really liked that craze for 'Gothic Romances' that seemed to be sparked off by Barnabas Collins during the 1970s. I collected quite a few of the American Dark Shadows paperbacks when they were remaindered in Woolworths.

I presumed it was a black and white comic like Creepy but according to my Overstreet it confirms they are text stories with illos by Adams, Chaykin and Russ Heath - 2 pages each. Doesn't mention Alex Toth.

Here's a colour version of the cover:

I didn't know about Gothic Romances, but I had that issue of Movie Monsters.

Atlas did do some Creepy style magazines. I had a couple of issues of Weird Tales of the Macabre until I sold them on ebay recently. The comic I'd most like to get is the first Beano-Dandy Summer Special.

Back in 1981, I acquired Batman's World of Adventure Library #2, which I'd had as a kid in the '60s. "Must get #1" I thought. Well, back in May of this year, I finally did, making it 32 years before I achieved my aim. Last night, I finally dug out the box in my cupboard which contained #2 and reunited it with its pal. I can't seem to upload any images here for some reason, but should anyone wish to see them, here's a link to #1. There's a link to #2 on the post itself.
