According to Jamie, he'd never even read the Sparky version, so you're right about it being "in name only". Any other similarities are just as coincidental.big bad bri wrote:the new thingummyblob isnt a patch on the old version i wouldnt even compare them unless in name only...
There's a little sneaky-peek of the new run of Hippo up on my ol' web-log doo-dah:swirlythingy wrote:Looking forward to seeing how Mr A.D.Fanton Esq. is going to celebrate his win, too...
The Dandy logo doesn't have a descender. It's all caps.swirlythingy wrote:I like the Beano's solution, if I can't exactly see how it would be transferable to the Dandy. Slanting up the descender of the Y, perhaps?
At the very least, I hope they do something soon, because it's getting annoying.
Reading my recent issues of the Dandy, How old is the Professor as in one, he was eying on a schoolgirl for a date!big bad bri wrote:the new thingummyblob isnt a patch on the old version i wouldnt even compare them unless in name only, from what i can remember the professor always seemed to want rid of the original and in the new version he seems to want to take over the world that story & some mummies do ave em is why i want to buy sparky comics at the moment,i was looking forward to its return but was hugely disapointed but i know i aint the target audience but i cant be the only ( what should us old fuddy duddys call ourselves, retro readers) that was disapointed.
Fear not. He's a boy genius. It's mentioned that he's still a child in other episodes.steven wrote: Reading my recent issues of the Dandy, How old is the Professor as in one, he was eying on a schoolgirl for a date!
That can happen around this time of year I think. Advertising usually peaks towards Christmas, to promote the latest toys/games etc. Or at least that's how it used to be, but there are so many restrictions on what can be advertised in children's comics now. No sugary foods for example, or chocolate, or lollies. (Ah, for the days of Sugar Smacks ads. That was when breakfast cereals were allowed to have free gifts of course. And when Sugar Smacks still existed....)Young Freddy wrote:Justgetting the thread back on its intended topic, anyone else notice the lack of non DCT adverts in this issue? Not one single advert apart from the usual one advertising the Dandy itself.
