Bought some early copies of Film Fun from 1920 and 1924 including the Fireworks and Easter issues from 1924. The spines are worn but they're in good shape, and full of great strips. The fireworks issue came with free Harold Lloyd spectacles. Does anyone have a pair?

From 30th Century Comics I today received thirty-two of the thirty-three issues of Spellbound that I needed to complete the full run. I now only need issue 65.

One bit of sad news! the 26 Pigs site is closing! Some of the Sparky artists were on its discussion forum which helped my Sparky File a lot! I first won a copy of Sparky No 2 on there for twenty five quid-so i'll miss it!

Sorry but we are closing down the 26Pigs store due to an imminent upgrade in the PHP code the site runs on.

We have run Pigs as a free service for the past 5 years but the upgrade work would take around 3 weeks work and this is not viable when the site does not generate income.

The store will stop working on April 1st so please get your shopping done by then.

Thank you all for your support.

26Pigs.com
Sounds like the upgrade would break the store's coding. That's similar to what knocked out Comics UK before.

Yesterday I got Beanos 1856 (Two gun Tony and Jacky Daw with Maw and Paw), 1861 (both with the original Fan Club star prize - a model Gnasher), 1871, 1872, 1885, 1888, 1890, 1900 (early Sweet Sue and the Fix-it Twins, and a rare Dave Gudgeon Rogert), and 1955; Toppers 1210 (pre-Sparky), 1311 and 1338, and Buster Books 1984 and 1985. All for £35.

Went to Deptford flea market (via Manzes pie and mash shop - natch) and picked up seven 90s Busters, a 90s Christmas Beano and the 1998 Dandy Summer Special all for a pound. One of the Tom Thug strips had a Dennis the Menace type character and a copy of the YAWNO comic he appeared in (with Beano style lettering). I also picked up the 1974, 75 and 76 Twinkle annuals for a quid each. One of the Busters had several letters from readers asking who the Vid Kid artist was - he made a cameo appearence in every strip but signed his work Sue Denim (obviously a pseudonym). They said they'd answer the question next issue but I don't have it so can someone enlighten me?

I could be wrong Steve, but if memory serves me right it was J. Edward Oliver.

That's correct. 'Sue Denim' was Jack Oliver.

That was my guess but there was another Oliver strip in one issue which he had signed J Edward Oliver so why the pseudonym for a second strip? I remember when JEO did a half page in the Disc music paper. I think it was a quiz.
