Not so much comics, but going on from the earlier thread on buying old TV Guides covered earlier on this blog here - a friend gave me a pile of old TV Guides and Picture Posts from the 1950s featuring the Royal Family she was going to throw out in a house move.

These guides included the 1970 Xmas Radio Times, 1970 Radio Times with Bobby Moore on the cover with Mexico 70 guiide inside, plus the very last locally produced TV TImes in 1968 for Granada region (Pete & Dud on cover for their obscure "Goodbye Again" show for ATV), printed when LWT & Thames companies were in their infancy.

All a great read - gives you a real feel of the time & reminds you when there were things to watch on TV.

I heard somewhere that old Picture Posts are quite collectable - this true?

At our local library, 2 Cinebook issues of Blake and Mortimer - The Francis Blake Affair and The Strange Encounter, written by Jean Van Hamme and illustrated by Ted Benoit. I read the French originals a while ago on loan from a friend so it's great to be able to add these English translations to my collection. Obviously not quite the same as the master, Edgar P. Jacobs but seriously good entertainment - and I like Benoit's stuff. 30p. each. What a bargain.

A nice copy of Mickey Mouse Holiday Special 1937 - a few tears and a crossword filled in but really great!!

A friend brought me back The Crunch no. 54 from the Bristol Comic Expo, thinking I might be interested in the cover-featured Ebony. He was right!

I used to get (and got the entire collection of the Crunch. My all time favourite DCT adventure comics. I was sad when it merged with Hotspur.

In fact, The Crunch 54 was the last issue before the merger.

Finally got The Art & History of the Dandy through the post this morning. Wasn't expecting it to be signed by Morris Hedge and Craig Graham, so that was a nice bonus. Looking forward to reading this one!

Just bought 3 commandos thought I'll buy them again...the story set at night looked great..also female flyers called witches..

The Night Witches are fantastic. So many war movies about made up stuff when you have something like them in real life, it's ridiculous.

Got three years worth of Eagle to read now. Not sure why they aren't more sought after as, after ditching the photoseries, there is some decent stuff by Ron Smith, Ezquerra, Hebden, Alan Grant, Mike Western etc etc. This was really the successor to Action and ealry 2000AD.

Finally picked up the best of Alf Tupper from the local Royal Mail delivery office - it's been sitting there since Saturday!

Just read it what an amazing story and one I've not heard of before...what an amazing brave ladies...hope there will be further adventures with these characters...a nice new story for Commando...is the other new Commando book worth getting as well..got the Gold and Silver one...?
