There! Sorted! (Look through my posts in this thread, I've edited them now so that Wayne's surname has been spelt correctly).

I didn't like tam paterson's work or Tom Whittock's. I found Tam patersons work really disgusting while Colin whittocks looks way too squigily

What's Mr Whittock's first name again? One minute you said Tom, then you said it was Colin. Never heard of him anyway.
Just clicked your link Young Freddy. It's
Roger the Dodger, not Roder, not Rodger. And the girl who cameos was his sister. She disappeared soon after, but was in more than just the first strip. The Little Plum page has a mistake with the spelling of Hunt
Emerson's name. Ken Harrison never refused to draw Desperate Dan (not that anyone's heard anyway), we can assume that was an editorial decision. Please correct these mistakes.
I wonder what Old Freddy will make of your username?

"Young" Freddy; not the bloke who used to be "tiptopgolfy" by any chance are you?
Quite a few mistakes and assumptions on that site I'm afraid. For example Ken Reid didn't quit DC Thomson for Fleetway in the Sixties to work on Faceache. He left for Odhams to work on Frankie Stein. Faceache was a character that Ken didn't create until 1971 for the IPC comic Jet.
And is it really true that Ken Harrison refused to draw Dan for Dandy Xtreme? Source please.

tiptopgolfy is Niall Webb according to his sig, I checked the member list. He never posted once according to the stats, so anything he did post is now credited to Old Forum Fella. He's not banned, so why would he re-register? Doesn't mean he's not the same guy though.
Young Freddy, there's something else you need to know. Don't you think this forum makes yours kind of useless? It was obsolete before it launched!

You didn't even bother to rename "your first forum", and haven't stickied your rules thread, which makes me think you don't have the technical know-how to even be a moderator, let alone actually run a message board.

I'd just ditch it and concentrate on getting the facts right at your main site.

The fact is there are not as many great talanted artist about now doing UK comisc as there was in the 50s, 60s and 70s - there are no Leo Baxendales, Ken Reids, Davy Laws or Dudley D Watkin's about now - styles may have changed but class hasn't kept abreast - some cool artists all the same still out there like: Jamie Smart, Lew Stringer, Steve Bright, Nigel Parkinson & Hunt Emerson - the rest (IMHO) are mostly VERY average if that.

Not a fan of Laura Howell or Kev F Sutherland then STARBOY? (Bear in mind both are on this board.

He posted here as "Dennis the Menace" and had a website/forum very similar to Young Freddy's.
By the way Freddy, Sammy Shrink started out in Wham!, not Knockout. The info you presumably found from Toonhound was inaccurate.

Blimey young freddy got a bit of a ribbing didn't he! I think spelling mistakes and his signature 'hey dudes are you cool' would point to him being a young lad, so hopefully he will still feel welcome here and can use this site to increase his knowledge!

He said loser, not cool. Your point still stands though I suppose. Anyway, that happens to be his only post here, and these corrections can be sourced from this site, and certain members' blogs. And Lew spotted more mistakes that I didn't, so young or not, we were both just pointing out that he needs to do his research. Looking at Comics UK itself would be a good place to start. Toonhound apparently wasn't. Anyway, you're right, maybe I was a bit harsh.

Young Freddy, don't take it personally OK? Take on board what people say about that site, and you'll earn respect in no time.

I hope he sticks around on this website and learns a thing or two! if he is a kid its nice to see him taking his intrest in comics to this forum were he will learn from all the clever clogs and creators here!

I don't think there's anything at all wrong with the current crop of comic artists. In fact, I think that most of them of very good. I would even suggest that the current artists are better than they were, say, five years ago. In that time, Laura H, Jamie Smart and Kev F have all made their mark. The old artists were great but the modern ones are doing a superb job as well.

That sounds a fairer perspective to me. Being honest, the 90s were the weakest era, very few new artists then, just the old guard - and even a few of them fell by the wayside thanks in part to the demises of Buster, Whizzer and Chips, Victor and Beezer and Topper. No room for newbies. Things have changed now though, as new artists have come into the industry. We'll never see another generation like the 50s though.

Digi'- Sorry for not including Luara (or Ken Harrison)etc in my list, I wasn't meaning to list all the artist that I though were, IMHO in the same class of the old 50s 60s artists (whether or not they are on this site or not really). However Laura is a really good artist (and I've followed Kevs work since he was a kid in his old "Wednesday column" in the Fanzines) - I also wasn't meaning (although to be fair I think I actualy said this) that todays artists were
all poor compared to the 50s and 60s artists (as there were some less than spectacular artists out there then) but IMHO there very few people today woking in comics (anywhere) with Rieds, Baxendales etc "vision" (you can add Kirby, Bellemy, Wally Wood etc to that list). Todays artists are certainly talented (and if I did, I shouldn't have implied they werent, off course they are and I apologise if I offended any artist/fan out there) A lot of this is probably down to my age and the fact I dont think todays artists get the opportunity to be as crerative in comics today (I may be wrong tho) with the limited types of books they can work on but Reid, Baxendale , Kirby etc etc were exceptional people that come along very rarely.

It's worth bearing in mind that the top artists you mention were exceptional for their era too. Baxendale, Reid, Law and Watkins were true giants of the comics industry compared to artists of any generation.
