Impulsive I guess. ;) Still no Doctor Who or 2000AD.
Reading comics since 1970. My Current Regulars are: 2000 AD (1977-), Judge Dredd Megazine (1990-), Spaceship Away (2003-), Commando (2013-), Deadpool and Wolverine (2023-), Quantum (2023-), Fantastic Four (2025-).

Still no Doctor Who (though 2000AD came through the letterbox yesterday) but I did get sent the free t-shirt.

The latest issues of Spaceship Away and The Astonishing Spider-man came through the letterbox.

As usual, SA was great. Apart from the strips, I found the Harold Johns and the Lost Eagle articles very interesting.

Not so much bought as received. 200 plus Commandos ranging from the early 70's to the early 90's and the next two instalments of the Judge Dredd part work.
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

Yahoo! At long last, my subscribed issue of Doctor Who Comic finally came through the post today. :D

Also got the latest 2000AD with the return of Strontium Dog - one of my all-time favourite characters/strips.

I hit the jackpot yesterday; 100 comics for the equivalent of 50p each, including forty Eagles from 1956-65.

The Hampson team at their best. It looks as if it's really happening.

Of course 'Terra Nova' was the story in which Frank Bellamy took over Dan Dare, while Frank Hampson began his swan song for Eagle with the outstanding 'Road of Courage'. Fantastic stuff! It's surprising how cheap some of those 1950s Eagles tend to be nowadays - presumably a reflection of the number of copies that were printed.

These were from a batch that failed to sell at an antique market. There's not very much interest in old British comics here. The lady who sold them to me said they'd nearly been cut up for decoupage.

In the same pile were some second-series TV21's with three-page full colour "Star Trek" episodes drawn by Mike Noble. I'd never seen these before, and they're much more exciting-looking than the U.S. strip. There's also a "Trek" story drawn by Harold Johns. TV21 Mark 2 seemed to be fairly good when it started, but after the first year it filled up with black and white Marvel reprints.

Mike Noble's Star Trek was fantastic, but I could have done without the football teams! Harry Lindfield also did a pretty good job of portraying Captain Kirk and his crew in the short-lived Joe 90 comic (which additionally featured a lot of b&w Keith Watson art and Gerry Haylock's gorgeous colour art on Land of the Giants).

Got two comics from the charity shop today. Not my usual type subject but I had to buy them because you don't see these around very often.£1.49 each.

DELL The story of Ruth
Mini Mirabelle this has a slight crease on the front cover but that can easily be put right.

Here's a picture .The tab camera has a set lens so thats the best I can do.

That's a nice looking Dell, abacus, and one (of the many) I don't have. I don't have a guide handy so not sure if there was a WDL British reprint.
Never seen a Mini Mirabelle. Thank you for the post.

One of the fun things about collecting is that you come across comics now and again that you were not aware existed. As seen in the photo the Mini Mirabelle was a standard size 16 page comic that came free with Mirabelle.

Dug out my guide but it was no use as it simply mentions #1 and says there were 88 issues in the series. The Classic Comic Store:-
http://www.classiccomicstore.com/stock.asp?SeriesID=15
doesn't have it for sale, but that could simply mean it's not in stock. Can anyone else help?
The Mini Mirabelle sounds as if it should be a pocket library. Never mind, it's still a nice thing to pick up. 8)

The Dell comic was in the movie classic series and as 9d on the cover below the 10c so was produced for the UK market.I have not seen the movie that came out in 1960 but it can be found on youtube.Mini Mirabelle is not pocket size therefore it must relate to the number of pages compared to the main magazine although I don't know what the standard Mirabelle looked like.Looking at the lead comic strip story in the mini called Ten minute terror, there is no terror only sugary girlie stuff. :) It also includes two pages about Man from Uncle David Mcallum.A typical girlie magazine but because of it's age (1966) it as to count as a collectors item.

I got that Mirabelle mini comic at the last comic mart but mine has a chunk out of pages 7 and 8 where someone has cut out an UNCLE picture. Otherwise its in really nice condition.
