What comics did you buy today?
Re: What comics did you buy today?
at the third time of asking, I was finally victorious at Phil's current auction - a full year run of Debbie 1977 for £44.10. The 1978 run went for around £76. The merger with Spellbound may be a factor with this price.

Not much at the ephemera fair on Sunday but I did get a free gift booklet from Wizard for a fiver. It was something to do with Railways. A small red covered booklet. Phoenix will know it. Comic fair next Sunday at the Royal National.

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Just picked up Avengers Universe 13 from Tesco. I was prompted to buy it as there are two stories which both start from the beginning. Can't say I recognise many of the heroes though, where's Hank Pym?
Re: What comics did you buy today?
I've looked that up, and it comprises Mighty Avengers issues 6-8 and Young Avengers 7-8. So the main team isn't in that issue. Looking at Comic Vine, the teams seem to comprise:
Mighty Avengers:
Ava Ayala (White Tiger)
Blue Marvel
Iron Fist
Luke Cage
Falcon (a few issues later he becomes the new Captain America)
Victor Alvarez (who has Cage's old codename, Power Man)
Monica Rambeau (Spectrum - formerly Captain Marvel)
Jessica Jones
She-Hulk
Young Avengers:
Hulkling (despite the name, not a Hulk - he's a Kree/Skrull crossbreed)
Kate Bishop (Hawkeye II)
America Chavez (Miss America)
Noh-Varr (another former Captain Marvel, a Kree like the original)
Speed and Wiccan (apparently children of Scarlet Witch and Vision)

Just bought an entire collection of Starlord (IPC).
I also bought two Crackers which I just realised are from Dez Skinn.

Re: What comics did you buy today?
I picked up my copy of Sergio Aragones' Five Decades of His Finest Works from the post office today and took delivery of Denis Gifford's Space Aces also. My copy of Draw The Line Here also arrived yesterday and I have done a review of it on Down The Tubes. And my Nikolai Dante GN also pitched up.
But I spent a little more than I meant to at the Glasgow Comic and Crafts Fair today. I ended up buying The Invisibles Volumes 1, 2 and 3. So that was fifty odd comics added to the collection. I also picked up Fatman and Ribbon which is a small press comic, Electric Soup 10th Anniversary Special, Happy Birthday Martha Washington, issue 2 of Jupiter's Legacy, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen parts 1 to 4 and a smattering of J Michael Straczynski's Rising Stars. And at no extra charge, I eventually met Frank Quitely and got his autograph!
So a fairly packed comics weekend for me and it's not even Sunday yet!

In Border Bookshop in Todmorden on Friday, I bought the John Ryan "Harris Tweed" collection, The amazing surrealistic sketchbook "The Doyle Diary" by Charles Altamont Doyle (father of Sir Arthur Conan of that ilk), and Marsden and Moore's "This Was the Wizard".
Is it weird to have no interest in keeping or collecting free gifts?

Re: What comics did you buy today?
As I am considering selling off the bulk of my collection I go to the comic mart more as a reason to get out and see my mate Steve and Phil Clark but I couldn't resist buying 18 Mad magazines from the 60s for £2 apiece. On the way home I popped into the betting shop and was wondering whether or not to put a couple of quid on a horse called Kashgar at 11-1 but it was unplaced so I'm glad i resisted the temptation. Someone must have backed it though as it went into 9-1 and the Racing Post fancied it.
Re: What comics did you buy today?
At a bookshop in Cardiff (troutfish or something) bought a bunch of Victor (mainly Xmas issues), then up to a charity shop where I got a Super-Heroes annual (1979 IIRC) for £2 and some Bronze Age Avengers, Wonder Woman and Captain America. All wonderful condition and bagged. 50p each. The assistant was saying how well they were selling and how few were left. Not surprised at that price!
There was a stall in the market with a good collection of comics (US mainly) but all the boxes were piled up on top of each other. Its not my job to make his stock sellable. I was going to ask about his DCT Warlords but, with no prices anywhere, I felt like an interloper in a place where someone isn't bothered.
And for my record collection, 12" s from the Band of Holy Joy and A Certain Ratio, plus the excellent Sacred Heart Hotel from the Stars of Heaven. Never though I'd see that one again.

If he has any 1986 Warlords, let me know as they are the only weeklies that I am missing.starscape wrote:...I was going to ask about his DCT Warlords but, with no prices anywhere, I felt like an interloper in a place where someone isn't bothered...
