Don't forget to put "Submission" in the subject line.
DandyComic Twitter wrote:@IanHewett Hi Ian! Thanks for your interest - if you send it to
artwork@dandy.com and mark your email as 'Submission' we will pick it up!
And I assume Beano's address would be
artwork@beano.com, but it's actually not unheard of for something to be sent to one comic but appear in the other - one episode of Joe Jitsu in the Beano had a gym labelled as Dandytown!

big bad bri wrote:arnaud your artwork is brilliant ,much better than the majority of the work in the dandy at the moment and i for one wouldnt mind seeing you draw a classic strip or 3 like bananaman or korky etc in dandy and beano every week
Thanks ! But I don't want to be better than any Dandy cartoonist nor to steal anyone's work !

I just try to get the right spirit (not so easy, I grew up reading Tintin or Astérix, not Dennis !) and hopefully to fit in.
Jonny Whizz wrote:I think your Desperate Dan is the best you've done yet, you've got him pretty much spot-on in my opinion.
Happy that you like it ! I must admit that it was the hardest character of the lot but one I like the most too ! I do like the new designs, more cartoony (so do I for Fred's Bed etc) but the original one worked so well with this realistic style ! I'm sure Glen Baxter likes Desperate Dan.
Ispyshhhguy, Digifriend : I'll sure do, thanks the addresses, it'll help me much ! I'd like to do a few more drawings (next week it should be done) and then send the lot to DC Thomson.
Today's batch !
Bea
Les Pretend
... And Shiner !

It never occured to me before, but while Shiner's title panel shows him in short sleeves, he actually usually wore long sleeves... I can imagine Dennis the Menace giving him that black eye for stealing his fashion sense!
I see you did Bea in the original style, not the TV version with the less spiky hair.

I've seen him with both short & long sleeves, don't know what is his regular suit !

That's because I don't really know the TV design

From I've seen I think the new designs are ok, cartoony, professionnal but it lacks some personality from the original ones. I mean, Dennis looks almost too cute ! Isn't he supposed to be a bully ? Well I know how hard it is to do a cartoon that please everyone. We still can read the originals comics, and lots of childrens discovered the characters thanks to those cartoons.
Today :
Wallpaper anyone ?

I posted some of my artwork off to the Beano four weeks ago but I haven't had a reply yet. When can I expect a response?
BTW I sent my stuff off by post, not by email. I know it did arrive in Dundee because I had it sent by special delivery and I received a note saying that it had been sent.

Billy Whizz
& Rasher
That's all for now. I think I did enough drawings to apply and I'll send them to DC Thomson. Wait & see !

Great job on Billy Whizz, I think you've captured the essence of movement well (which is vital for him). I like your Rasher as well, and it's nice to see him again.

Arnaud - love your stuff, very stylistic, very sharp!
Meanwhile, I've been thinking about Biffo the Bear, and maybe taking him a bit TOO literally:

Hello!
Just thought I'd share this little bit of fan-art with you, where I've redrawn my character George (from George vs Dragon in The Dandy, fact fans) in the style of my absolute idol, Tom Paterson.
I just hope I haven't disgraced myself too much

lol, it was always obvious you was a fan of Tom's considering your avatar and username. And that picture of George looks just as I'd expect if Tom Paterson drew it (the eyes bring to mind Calamity James straight away). You could easily ghost him if the need ever arose.

Well, thank you, Digi!
Needless to say, if I was ever ever offered such work, I'd be terribly honoured. After I'd soiled myself and regrouped, of course!

My first IPC work was ghosting Tom Paterson on a 4 page Scooper strip for a Jackpot Annual. A daunting but enjoyable job.

I bet that was great fun, Lew - and no doubt you rose to the challenge with aplomb! An entire plomb, no less!

Lil' Squelchy : funny stuff ! I like Tom Paterson as well. About Biffo, it would be funny indeed if he acted like a real bear (eating sheeps and all)
I sent my drawings to DC saturday ! Now I'll wait & see (and work on other projects)

Good luck! Bear in mind though that some editors haven't been able to get in because of the snow in Scotland, plus they're busy on getting ahead before the Christmas break, so don't worry if you don't hear anything for a while.
