Re: Reprints in the Beano
Oops, never mind on the origin of the quote. I thought for a moment we had a user here with "Classics from the Comics" as his handle. Now I realize you're quoting some kind of advert from CFFC.
Re: Reprints in the Beano
Gnipper previously lived with Dennis, as seen in the Gnasher and Gnipper comic strip. But now he lives with Granny, and apparently always has done. The quote was from Classics From The Comics issue 161, which came out today. Most forum members would've realised that. Sorry for confusing you.David Gerstein wrote:From what are you quoting? Unfortunately, I'm not in the UK right now— could you tell a desperate resident of Obamaland how exactly Gnipper's backstory has been changed?
By "new pig" I hope they don't mean that Rasher has actually been replaced by a different pig after thirty years of faithful service.

Re: Reprints in the Beano
Does anyone actually think there are now fewer reprints in the Beano than there were a few weeks ago?
Rasher, and Gnasher and Gnipper, have both been dropped due to the new Dennis TV series (Rasher has sadly been dropped, and Gnipper's background has been changed), while from what we've seen on the Beanotown website, Dave Eastbury looks set to return to Ball Boy in a different style. Sure, Ivy the Terrible's back to being reprints again, but it's Bob Nixon, and we've gained two reprint pages while we've lost three.
However, I would like to know what's happened with the colouring on Ivy the Terrible. I've seen the strip from this week's issue before - it was from a January 2001 issue. The first time around the colouring was reasonably normal. Yet in the reprint, almost all the background is white, and it's not the first time that this has happened. Anyone know what's going on here?

Obviously it's been recoloured, and I agree about it being inferior to the original, they should reprint it coloured exactly as it was the first time, like they do with Billy Whizz.
