I didn't put that because it's quite a spoiler for the segment!

I have an original Wilfrid of Bash Street portrait by Leo Baxendale, inside my copy of his book 'On comedy.'

Yes, but to be fair to jakob, the 4Seven repeat that you directed us to, Raven, had aired several hours before he posted that information.

Well, it spoiled it for me. I enjoy the programme and was looking forward to it, but work during the day and don't watch much 4od at night. Although I realise that wasn't the intention, so maybe just learn from it by putting in ****SPOILERS**** or similar as a heading?

This is a fascinating book of a mere 64 pages, in which Baxendale reviews the decade between 1953, when he started Bash Street, Minnie and Little Plum, to 1962, when he left The Beano. It rarely surfaces on the secondhand market so, for those who have never come across it, see below for the front cover.

In Hair by Mr Bean of London, Bean goes to a barber's shop and reads a 1990s Dandy which appears to show Dan climbing a wall. Estimated 1995, as that was when it was released direct to video.

This was mentioned earlier in the thread but the pic seems to have disappeared. It's issue issue 2784 1st April 1995

There was a nice close up of an early 60s issue of the Beezer. He was also filmed in Manzes Pie and Mash shop in Tower Bridge Road. .
It's 2 and a half years late, but here's a snapshot from this. You can also see a Beano hidden underneath too

I think i'm right in saying, that it's a much earlier comic than 1979. That masthead (with the first D much bigger than the other letters, and the second d with a large upperstroke) changed, i think, mid 1975 to a one where the letters were all similar size and the second d had a much stumpier upperstroke.

You're right. The 1975 logo is the one currently used on the annuals. It lasted until 1984.

Perhaps it was a recycled prop? That Dandy was definitely 4-8 years old at the time of that show's production. It's from some time between 1971 and 1975, but End of Part One was made in 1979.

I was very surprised to find this, once rare, half hour 1977 ITV supernatural half hour up on YouTube. Others may be more excited to discover that, at about 12.07, THERE'S A BEEZER!*
