Alan has done all the heavy spadework: surely I can scan in a few pages at a time [It's also illustrated now].
well done that should be a good read not only for forum members but comics fans who come across it via search engines

I will start it this week, Bri: it's just a case of adding a few pages at a time.

Alan has added in a lot of new writings so even for the folks who have seen the original WORD version, this one is still worth revisiting.

I can even add in visual material from my 400 plus SPARKY issues.

At my age I enjoy reading the US comics as opposed to uk humour comics and since this site is about Uk comics I will be posting less , that is unless I find any UK comics of nostalgic value to me.

I'm very much the same I now nearly only collect British pocket library comics and American DC comics up to mid 80s mostly due to space with about 40 odd boxs of comics these are hard to keep out of site from she who must be obeyed
I now find British humour comics no longer funny must be my old age , I gave away hundreds of Beanos, dandys etc last year

I don't think anyone expects adults to be as amused/thrilled by children's comics as they were as children (although it's a bonus if they are) but surely collectors have a different perspective; appreciating the artwork and storytelling techniques, and their historical/cultural attributes?

I still love my humour titles but that could be seeing that i don't own any adventure or war titles apart fron new eagle 2000ad and roy of the rovers and a few hundred tiger. but i would rather read the older beanos than the new ones as i have not taken them out of the plastic bags they have arrived in for about 3 or 4 months now, i prefer my strips where there was more panels and a lot more detail like the old days,i hated the dandy the last few years it was around due to the artwork but still bought it as a collector.

Over 200 issues of Starblazer at an average of 38p each! That should keep me busy for quite a while. The collector in me now wants the remaining issues which are predominantly the final ones.

I also picked up a Doctor Dolittle comic (#1) by Top Sellers from 1973, Lone Ranger #1 from 1970 and all 9 Action Annuals. On the comic gift front I found the funny face maker gift from Cracker #4 and the Scorcher, My favourite soccer stars cards with album.

Cheers Col. I was surprised by how cheap they are and looking around, you can still get them for 50p each or so if you buy in bulk.

I've also just acquired Eerie Vol 1, No 1 by Gold Star from 1972 this morning on an Ebay BIN for less than a fiver. Buying during breakfast!

Yesterday, my Mum went in a charity shop and bought me The Beezer Book 1968 and The Topper Book 1972, £2 each, both in fantastic condition, original price not cut out, This Book Belongs To not filled in, no spine damage or torn pages. Considering their age, I was impressed.

a bit belated; I won Battle and Playland summer specials - 1975 and 1977, respectively from Phil's Auctions. So surprised that he already has another auction ongoing and there's a few gems, in my eyes, at which i'm salivating. I praise and curse him at the same time

So am I, Geoff. Times must be getting hard down Brighton way. He was already having his auctions more often than Compal too.

Picked up two lots of TV Comic from the 'bay, quite a few various issues but includes both issues featuring the Mighty Midget free gift comic of 'Dr Who' and 'Star Trek', also #1500 and the issue with the first UK appearance of 'Battle of the Planets' in comics.

Well, Free Comic Book Day didn't go to plan for me this year. Didn't get the Doctor Who or Bongo Free for All (Simpsons) titles I wanted. What I did get was a carrier bag containing 12 comics handed to me as I entered the Amazing Fantasy shop:
  • Captain America/Amazing Spider-Man
  • Civil War II/All-New All-Different Avengers
  • Suicide Squad
  • DC Superhero Girls
  • 2000AD
  • Love and Rockets
  • Spectrum
  • Serenity/Hellboy/Aliens
  • Legend of Korra/How to Train Your Dragon/Plants vs Zombies
  • Attack on Titan Anthology
  • Archie
  • One Punch Man/My Hero Academia
I then went to WHSmith and picked up Doctor Who Magazine #499 and Tales from the Tardis #6.

My loot was a mix of FBCD, comics bought at A1 Comics, Glasgow, Treasure Bunker Glasgow, the Comics Mart and a rather nice swap with Paw Broon of this parish.
